My dates were totally out at my first scan. They said I measured 5+4 when I thought I was at least 6+4. As they saw a heartbeat they said they had to assume 6 weeks. I went back this week and I am now pretty much on dates exactly. You just can't seem to say that early. Hopefully a scan next week will show what today could not xx

I really must be coming across as a right neurotic idiot but I have another question.

If by the scan I'm measuring 6 weeks does that mean I fell pregnant 6 weeks ago?

I'm sorry I know these dates are not always accurate and yes I probably am just clutching at straws here.

no.. it is dated from your period.. even buy the scan.. so they will say you conceived 4 weeks ago.. realistically if you conceived 4-5 days after you had sex and the dates are a week or so out or baby is smaller or was measured 1mm off it can make a big difference to what the sonographers measure you as.

Cherry bomb fingers crossed for you, I've seen quite a few people say that measurements can be so easily out at the early stages and considering how small baby is, a few bits of a millimetre out makes a huge difference to what they decide the date is
Fingers crossed next week brings better news x x

Cherrybomb - I agree with pigpen and Samtoby. You could have concieved a few days after you you last did the deed with your husband and early scans are not accurate thats why we don't get edd until the 12 week scan. A tiny little fraction of a mm makes a big difference to dates. Don't panic yet.

Were you tracking ovulation when you fell pregnant?

No I wasn't tracking my ovulation which is the bit of hope I've got left. That and the measurements were slightly out obviously.

Thanks for the replies. It's helping just getting it out on my here. My poor OH doesn't know what to do with himself. Doesn't help that Skype keeps cutting out. If I didn't love my IPad so much it'd be going out the window about now

Hi all, can I join you please? I'm 6+2 with what will be my 3rd baby :D.

I've been lurking this thread since I got my BFP 3 weeks ago, desperate to join in, but wanted to wait until we had told a few people in RL as I know some people read my diary and posts on mse and didn't want them to find out that way.

I'm cautious this time also as my last 2 pregnancies ended in mc, the most recent in October. That time I got to 8+5 but baby had stopped growing at 5-6 weeks :( (was sent for scan due to spotting and shoulder tip pain which is how I know this). I'm driving everyone a bit nuts panicking this time at every little twinge and I'm on constant knicker watch!

Apart from that I'm just constantly shattered, always hot and I have a bump already!! I feel nauseous sometimes but not regularly.

Cherrybomb, fingers crossed for you Xx
