Lippy... there are very very few things which are absorbed through the skin.. by very definition it is there to keep things out and contain things in. Mercury and lead are to be avoided but your usual shampoo or bubble bath is not going to harm the baby.. Lush and John Frieda here and I am yet to have a child with extra body parts, or fewer.. their issues have almost all been caused by incompetent medical staff at the hospital.

    Sorry to worry you Flower.

No its fine, its just not something that I even ever thought about, i've been more concerned about what foods I am not allowed to eat :rotfl:

I had another wobble earlier worrying about the follow up scan, DS who is 18 months came over to me and started rubbing my arm then climbed up and gave me a kiss and cuddle. Im trying not to let him see me worried but he is obviously picking up on something bless him.

You can dye your hair when pregnant! You need to be careful using bleach that you're in a well ventilated room because of the fumes and in later pregnancy colours may take slightly differently due to hormones but it's safe. Otherwise pregnant hairdressers couldn't work!
  • Welcome to misscoupon, amy, shoeaddict, lippy, lozza, lola and lilymay :) (sorry if I've missed anyone, not been on properly for a while). What's with all the names starting with L??!

So sorry to hear your news credit_crunch x

Flower - am glad things are more positive for you now, keeping my fingers crossed for you x

Congrats for any positive scans since I last posted :j

AFM, sorry it's been ages since I posted. Been doing ok, not too many symptoms (which I know is mainly good but also worries me a bit!). Had a private 'reassurance' scan last Saturday which did not reassure me in the slightest! I did not feel at all confident in the lady doing the scan and she dated me at 4w3d (which was impossible - I'd had a positive test over 2 weeks earlier) and said they saw a heartbeat but no yolk sac. This really scared me so I booked in for another scan elsewhere for a week's time - today. Much better - they dated me spot on what I though (6w5d) and could see everything including heart beat . Can't wait to reach the magical 12 week mark but still a fair way to go:o.

    Hope everyone's doing well,

    TP (8+5, really 6+5)

Will someone please tell me that it's okay to stop POAS now? In theory, I know I should.... but I've actually checked 4 times since I got my BFP :o

Is anyone else taking the plunge and going for a private reassurance scan? Is it best to wait for 8 weeks or could I go sooner?

Sorry to be such a fusspot, I'm a wreck and I have absolutely no excuse :o

I didnt go for one, simply because I couldnt afford to! But then I felt pretty relaxed about everything until I started having the bleeding at 12 weeks. Think there are a few on here that have had early reassurance scans.

Follow up scan tomorrow, just hope to god they find a heartbeat again! I should be 13 weeks tomorrow by my dates.

Had my Nt scan this Wednesday and baby was fine, can't believe how much baby had grown in just over a week. Went in late for the scan though so was very uncomfortable! And there was no separate screen for me to look at this time was just staring at the ceiling. Then they just printed off the last image which was a bit rubbish, Dh said all the earlier images were better. Still, baby is ok and that's what's important. I'm 13+1 today so I better go to the other thread I suppose! Can't believe how quick time is going! :)

Amyloofoo - I think most people POAS after getting a BFP too. I did in excess of 10 afterwards, and then freaked myself out as they weren't darkening very fast. Pregnancy is a very scary time - I think perhaps made slightly more scary if it has taken a while to get pregnant as you are aware of what a struggle that part can be :o

For me, I had an NHS scan at 6+1 due to my previous molar pregnancy last year. If I'm honest - it did nothing to reassure me. All you could see was a yoke sac, gestational sac and some evidence of heartbeat. The baby was tucked right up on the edge of the sac, so the heartbeat was not clear and you couldn't get a measure of the baby or anything. I knew in my head that there wouldn't be much to see, but afterwards I felt very flat and not reassured. I would have been v disappointed if I had also paid £100 for the experience.

I wondered whether to get a scan in the middle of that one and my 12 week one, but decided against in the end. We don't have £100 just spare doing nothing, so it would mean cutting back elsewhere on something. Also, when I did have bad news last year through the NHS, they all dealt with it brilliantly, referred me through for an ERPC the following day and everything was very fast and sensitively handled. I was worried if I had a private scan, that I would then need to organise a referral if it was bad news, and that it would delay things.

Ultimately, all a scan does is tell you inforation for that 1 period of time. Things can go wrong even after you have been reassured. There is nothing that can be done in these first few weeks other than keep all your fingers crossed that everything is going ok. My 12 week scan is in 10 sleeps now, and I still worry. Some days I get through fine, but other days I am a bundle of nerves and cry about it. I don't think that the hormones help with that either.

I have a doppler, which I picked up on the heartbeat at 9+4. I thought this was really comforting and reassuring, until on Friday I had been woken in the night with really bad cramps and then used the doppler in the morning 'just to check'. Only I couldn't find the heartbeat. I'd read all the stuff, not to panic if you can't find it. DH was telling me how baby could be in a different position etc, more at the back. But I convinced myself that it was bad news, and cried and cried for about an hour. I kept going back and checking with the doppler, and eventually I did find the heartbeat. I totally underestimated how scary it would be not to find the heartbeat, and now I'm quite wary of it.

Pregnancy is a very scary time :o I had so wanted to enjoy my pregnancy, but so far I've not really succeeded in that :( I am obviously so so happy to be pregnant, just so worried that it will all be taken away again too :o

Good luck for tomorrow flower xx

Glad the scans went ok thoughts please xx

Morning all, welcome to all the newbies, congratulations and I hope you all have a happy and healthy pregnancy xx

Hugs to those having a hard time xx

Can't believe how much I'm worrying myself! I had a scan at 7 weeks, now @ 9 weeks 2 days I'm slightly panicking. I'm going to be about 13 weeks by my scan. I'm still feeling quite rough/ tired and v fussy with food. We tried to find the heartbeat on our Doppler last night with no luck. It hasn't massively worried me as it isn't a great one and I know we couldn't find a heartbeat until much later on last time. DH was adamant he could hear something faint but I wasn't so sure!
