I wouldn't worry about getting a cert I just told my dentist and he took my word for it. I haven't paid for ages and now I'm pregnant again so still won't be paying!!

Hi everyone, how's it going? Hope we're all well and had a good weekend. I have my first midwife appointment tomorrow, but OH can't make it and neither of us know much about his family's medical history - does anyone know what in particular is likely to come up?

Thoughts_Please - Thanks for the info about reassurance scans, I'm a little bit convinced I'm going to go overboard and have loads! I have to keep telling myself that the more I spend on seeing my baby before it's born, the less I'll have once s/he's actually here!

They are only interested in the immediate family.. parents, siblings.. you don't need to know too much.. diabetes, heart problems, STDs, birth defects.. nothing exciting.

Hello everyone! My wife and I found out on Friday night that she is 5 weeks pregnant. After having a weird 1 day period being a nurse she asked one of her colleagues to do a blood test, she has a hCG of 61 (whatever that means).

We have been trying since last Jan and whilst I still haven't fully taken it all in I am over the moon!

We will have to let certain people know this weekend as we are out for Bank Holiday Sunday drinks and it will more than a little obvious that the wife is on J20!

Can't wait for the first scan!

  • Hello again everyone.

Congrats Dunclane - hope you and your wife have a happy and healthy 9 months:).

Had my appointment this morning and amy - pigpen was right - they basically asked about any medical history that can be genetic - birth defects, kidney problems, blood pressure and a few others. I had a few blood samples taken, a urine sample and they booked my scan - I'm 21st May so quite close to KScarlet and Vic. I think though that although I'll be 12+1 from LMP, I'll actually only be just over 10 so should be able to get another NHS scan a week or so later  .

Flower - so pleased all is well :j, hopefully I'll get that news in a few weeks too.

All the info re. exemption was spot on - the midwife filled in most of the form then gave it to me to post. I went to the dentists and said I was pregnant but had not yet got my certificate and they just took my word for it.

PS for anyone who's interested/paranoid like me, the Hook effect (where pregnancy tests get lighter later in pregnancy) is definitely true - I did several tests today which all got much darker when diluted significantly with water :o.

    TP (9+0, really 7+0) x

    Evening everyone,

My holiday is making me much more relaxed - I've even cancelled my private scan for Friday. Go me.

Dunclane, a level of 63 is very very very low. Not that it's a problem, it just means your wife is very early on :)

If everything goes okay I think my 12 week scan will be during the same week as my wedding anniversary which will be nice (hopefully). Handy too as OH is off work.

    Does everyone else have sun?
