Second thoughts, think I'll drop her at a my auntie's!
My husband is out of the country on my scan date so has said he will pay for a private scan, so just booked one for 2nd May. Hoping I will be able to see the heartbeat as believe I will be 8.5 weeks at the very earliest...
xx
You will def see a heartbeat then. It can be seen from about 6 weeks.
AFM :j:j all is well!
Been brought forward 6 days so I'm 13+1 with a due date of 22 Oct.
Got prodded a lot so measurements could be taken - it was proving awkward at that point! Paid £6 for 2 blurry photos - dropped one off at my parents at the way home. If photos can get worn out by being looked at, I think the one I have given them will be!
Was weighed, blood pressure, load of bloods etc. Urine sample was needed.
Due to my age/ BMI over 30 (not sure which) they will do 2 extra growth scans at 28 & 34 weeks - not a problem with me!0 -

TTC40 - fab news, glad all is very well. Photos are lovely, aren't they. Xx
They've told me to have a glucose tolerance test around 20wks due to age/BMI - fast for 12hours then blood test. Drink nasty sweet drink. Wait an hour then another blood test! Sounds awful. Anyone else had this? To check for diabetes due to age/BMI (as mine is 30 - oops!). XDD1 June 1997

You do know you can refuse any tests you aren't happy about having??
The GTT is their latest fad test.. usually a total waste of time as there is no reason to suspect GD. Shame they can't do a worthwhile test routinely like the StrepB swab an infection which kills many many babies every year and is wholly preventable.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Hi Pigpen. Thanks for the info. Yes I'm aware I can refuse as refused one with DD2 but hadn't heard of anyone else on here having this. I actually hate needles so am a bit scared but it also gives me a free morning off work so don't mind getting it done (although it doesnt sound very nice!). I agree about the StrepB though. I'm booked in for the glucose test at 25 weeks due to BMI. I've been told I need to plan for a 2 hour 'sit in' at the hospital.0

Figured I'd finally introduce myself, I'm 11+5 today. It's my first pregnancy and me & Dh are very excited as we've been wanting a family for a while. Paid to have an early scan at about 8 weeks to check there was a heartbeat before we told anyone ( as I work in a lab I needed to tell them ASAP, but didn't want to unless everything looked ok). Was a little blob and a tiny heartbeat, our parents are so excited. Had my nhs scan this Monday and can't believe what a difference a few weeks has made! Get another scan next Wednesday as baby was 1mm to short for them to do the NT measurement. Pleased we get another scan, and more time of work too, it's a struggle doing a full week!Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0

I had a GTT test with my first due to having recurring thrush. It wasn't too bad, I was just so hungry! Took loads of magazines to pass to time. Everything came back clear for me xx0

Should have said, drink didn't really taste of anything, I think I had a 2 hour wait in between blood tests x0

Hi,
I had a BFP on April Fools Day so thought I'd come on here. Not sure how far gone I am so the midwife has booked me for my 10 week scan on the 8th May, but I'm sure they'll say I'm further along when I have the scan.
Hannah27 I had a gtt last time and it tasted like a really sugary flat Lucozade.Got married 13/11/10
