Bird - I'm sure you will come to get things straight in your mind. Jet lag time isn't good even without something on your mind. Even when a pg is planned, it's still normal to have a panic/ doubts.

As already has been said, go & talk to your GP if you don't want to discuss with anyone close to you.

BirdOfParadise - Big hugs. I echo what pigpen said, take some time for you, think about what you want and dont rush into any decisions.
How does your partner feel about it?
Please dont think your not normal, it is completely normal to feel terrified xx

  • Congratulations on everyone's scans :).

Birds of Paradise, I'm sure it's perfectly normal to feel like that - I am a little like that and this was planned. Maybe book in to see your Doctor to discuss how you feel.

Amy 85, if it was me I would probably ring up to sort it out or at least check what should happen next. I'm already booked in for the 8-10 week appointment (2 weeks to go!) as my Doctor gave my the details and said to ring up.

Trina - like the others have said I would just go along and see what they say. If it's necessary for you to give in a urine sample then they should be able to give you a sample bottle then and there that you can do.

AFM, still got the aches and pains and still extremely anxious (come on, 'fess up is anyone else still doing tests or is that just me??). I'm paranoid it's going to be ectopic so I've booked in for a private scan this weekend (should be about 6 weeks but LMP nearly 8 weeks).

Anyway, hope everyone is ok x

Many thanks pigpen... I feel really guilty I'm not happy about it, just extremely anxious. We came back from a trip abroad yesterday too and I'm exhausted and jet-lagged, and I feel I can't sleep as my head does not stop for a second... although I'm 39 I don't have any close frieds with kids and dunno who to turn to for advice.

Thanks for ur support again, it means a lot.

Well there are a few of us who are 39/40/more ancient on the various pregnancy threads at the moment so you aren't alone!

Jetlag + normal pregnancy exhaustion together with poor sleep is enough to make anyone cry!!!!

I wasn't happy about this one to start with and OH still isn't..

Check with your family planning service or whatever they call it where you are see if they can advise of a free independent pregnancy advisory service, most areas have one.. they will be better informed than most people. Friends with children will advise you to continue with the pregnancy but you need to decide what is best for you not for them.

Just rest and sleep when you can and if you think you might keep it I suggest getting some folic acid from the chemist or supermarket as it helps neural development and lowers the risk of birth defects like spina bifida.

    Hi everyone,

Hope everyone is well. Sickness is wearing off (touch wood!) so starting to feel a bit more human. Finally got my scan appointment, its 2 weeks away and I will be 13 weeks.

Asked 18 month old DS if he wanted a baby to play with and he shook his head and carried on playing. Oh dear :rotfl:

My sickness is inconsistent (not complaining about this), have a couple of good days & then it comes back. Felt rough this morning.

Scan tomorrow afternoon so hope to be graduating to the 12 - 24 thread.

    Hi all,

just found out yesterday I'm pregnant, about 3 weeks, and I'm totally freaked out... can't sleep or eat or think, I can only cry... can't tell anyone yet as it's too early, so only my partner knows.

Is it normal to feel like this..? Just need some support.. i was never sure I wanted kids and I'm even less sure know... I think I should feel happy but I don't...

I only became pregnant after 3 rounds of IVF and a gruelling couple of years and it still freaked the shit out of me :D

I spent the first couple of weeks having panic attacks and thinking 'oh God, is this really what I want?'.

    Hormones, innit.

Evening ladies. I had my booking in appointment today. As I guessed, they've dated me at 8+4 from my lmp. I know that I am more like 7+5 as i know when I ovulated. So my official edd is 21 November! I guess that means an earlier scan for me :) I've been referred for consultant care due to previous medical problems. I scored 8 on their risk scale :s

I'm another one who did a sneaky test last night. The line came up before the control line lol. I only did it cos I'm feeling much less sick. Still very queasy in the evening.

Thanks for the advice. Ice lollies are marvellous!

I had my booking in appt too today vic, but I'd already fudged my LMP date to have it 'fit in' with a 28 day cycle as I ov late as well. I have my scan booked in now for 8th may. Freaking out a bit as had the scan on the 9th may last year and was given the bad news, altho I did know it would work out around that date as that's when I am 12 weeks exactly.

Good luck for tomorrow TTC x

Flower - Am sure DS will come round to it, lol! I don't think they understand the baby in tummy concept at all at that age. But as yr bump grows and wriggles he will understand it a little more hopefully and look forward to it.

Thoughtsplease - I've stopped POAS now, but I am 9 weeks tomorrow. I had some bloods done in the beginning to check for hormones rising (2 previous miscarriages) and also a scan at 6weeks. I'm still extremely anxious about it all tho :o

Amy - booo for feeling pants, altho I must say I feel pants most days so don't worry about it too much. I'm retching loads and struggling with eating much, which is then making the retching worse :( And I sleep >loads< too, and still feel pooped all the time :o Am looking forward to the 'glowing' stage :o

Birdsofparadise - Hope things look a little brighter for you soon. It is a scary and daunting time - especially if it wasn't planned. Like pigpen says, have a good ol think and chat with your OH as whatever decision you make will stay with you. You will be in shock for now, so don't make any hasty decisions - and I would totally keep it between you and your OH for now as involving family members / friends may put pressure on you if they have strong opinions one way or the other and it may confuse you even more.

Yay for Angelmommy's scan!! So pleased it all went ok.

Hope your scan went ok today Trina x
