The NHS seem to think dyeing hair is fine:

Nail varnish & remover - something about formaldehyde and other toxins being bad for your lungs etc - not the foetus as such. Tbh it's more the dyeing my hair that's bothering me. I don't bleach it though so think I'll get on to that asap. I never used to bother with such recommendations but 2 mc's has made me very scared not to take any risks.

13weeks, figured it would be. 7 more days to go! Thanks for the info.

Lilly - all the best for your scan tomorrow too. I'm hoping baby gives me a wave!

I've had 7 m/c and lost the twin to 2 of mine.. there is rarely a reason which makes it more irritating and concerning.. this is the 1st time I have had 3 babies in a row without a m/c or 2 in between.. mind you, I'm 20 weeks tomorrow so another 4 weeks of m/c territory.

I had my nails painted the day I went in to have Dot :D At least something on me looked presentable!

Aw pigpen, so sorry to hear that. The nails/hair dye things are only not recommended within first 12wks.

It took us 6.5yrs to fall pg last sept so when we lost it, it ripped our lives apart. With this one, we decided not to take any little risks as I'm not getting any younger and my mum/nan both had early menopause around my age so we figure this is our last chance, that doubled with my odd-shaped uterus which makes me more likely to miscarry in general. We figured me not looking 100% gorgeous for these 8wks was something little that we could cope with lol. ;-)

12wks! :j Scan and tell people later inc. our girls. Just wish hubby was here to share it. Excited!

I've not told my children yet.. in fact I have told OH.. eventually, my oldest 2 children and the lady who does my nails lol.. ASAIK none of my parents or siblings know.. but then, if they can't be bothered to ring or speak to me I can't be bothered to tell them anything.

I am being a hormonal petulant child I am fully aware.

It took my sister a long time to conceive her daughter, she found out she was pg on the Tuesday and her apt with the fertility specialist was the Thursday!! She had an awful time with bleeding and colposcopies for CIN3 cells on her cervix (or whichever ones are 1 step away from it being cancer) They told her she would have a hysterectomy when they delivered the baby early or that she would probably lose it late on due to the cervical interference.. turned out she was 2 weeks late and refused to come out so they dragged her out lol. I found they are often wrong so stay hopeful!!

Pigpen - delighted for your sister, how wonderful. My 'babies' are 16 & 9 next month so to try for so long was harrowing enough. Once I'm over these 12wks I'm hoping I will feel like I can actually breathe and start acknowledging this baby.

Sorry you haven't felt able to shout it from the rooftops although I'm sure it will be their loss, not yours. My in-laws don't bother with me or our girls. They used to love my youngest until my now 4yo niece was born so expect they'll be all over me like a rash wanting a look-in when this one is born! I don't really want to tell them later but have no idea when hubby will be back in UK and thanks to Facebook etc it wouldn't be nice for them to find out second-hand. I saw your side bump pic ages ago, surely everyone must have noticed it? Xx

Had scan today - they've put me at 12+1. Over the moon - saw baby stretching, kicking, moving about etc - it was awesome.

Hope other scans today went well. Xx
