I have got a box of Enid Blyton books which have been under my bed for (ahem) 10 years. Why have I kept them? My kids are 12 and 14 and will never read them. Yes they bring back memories of my childhood but those memories will still be there whether I have the books gathering dust under the bed or not.
Looking on ebay they dont fetch much but binning them might be a step too far and they have to go. Thats on my list of things to do tomorrow.
Right - I am supposed to be working - must get on!!!
I have to say I will keep some books for reading to grandchildren - like idea of that!Happiness is wanting what you have...0 -
Oooh, ThriftyLass thats so exciting. In my humble opinion the closer together your kids are the better. I got pregnant second time around immediately!!! It took me nearly a year first time so thats what we were planning around and it was a bit of a shock. Wouldnt have it any other way now.
Glad you have got rid of the lodger Calling, will you look for another or has that put you off completely?
And yeah its always tricky when friends dont have quite the same outlook on money as you. You just have to stick to whats right for you.
Right - updating the spreadsheets. Hubby bought something for a customer on his Barclaycard and the money has come in so that needs to be paid off straight away before there is any temptation to spend it.0 -
Evening All,
Checking in, today was a SFD, I did want to go out tonight but having a quiet night in instead to save the pennies. Checked my Mr T Credit Card and the grand total is £415, stupid me is only paying off the minimum so the goal is to clear by end of April. Little target for me, I'm getting paid weekly at the moment so can chip away at it.
Off to cook some dinner. Have a nice evening everyone. Eh xx0 -
Hi All
SFD for me,
Should be SFD sat and sun as I'm working all weekend, well that's the aim anyway!!!!
Have a good one

I went through the receipts and my notes etc and realised I just set my targets to tight as I always seem to go over my budgets a similar amount each month since i tightened the belt. So my numbers for next month will be slightly higher (not giving me extra to spend just a more realistic number) but I hope to finally get the feeling of staying within budget without feeling I cheated. Plus I will still be able to put away money and then it might really be able stay there rather then being taken out again because I underestimated my grocery bill. See how it goes next month and then I'll try to reduce it slowly again to get to the true number.
This has been exctly my problem - being too stringent with the budgets and making them unworkable. Also have the same plan of action for April - slightly higher budgets to make sure I can keep to them. Here's hoping our plan works!!!

Another SFD for me today.
Bit fed up now as I went to sort out my new car and it turns out it has 2 different keys - 1 operates the passenger door and ignition and the other the driver door. What a faff - so i'll have to use 2 keys every time i drive it?! Its put me right off but i cant see anything else that takes my fancy. It seems even the dealer wasnt aware until it came to light today.
His missus - be strong. Its your money and you'll use it as you see fit. Seems like your friend wants to have her cake and eat it - ie have everything at once (quite a selfish outlook too if she's tardy at paying people back). Ive found i appreciate things more since being :money:
And all this talk of tidy house tidy mind etc - i totally agree.:rudolf: DF by Xmas 2018: #83 £8,250/£15,000 55% :rudolf:

Good Evening all...
What a lovely little stream of messages. Babie planning, being firm with frivolous friends, getting active with a gym membership and trotting off to the Capitol for frolicks...Very interesting!
First and most important - the de-cluttering! I have got the bug. Getting rid of everything that is not absolutely necessary, or seriously sentimental. I intend to have a stream-line existence in my new house so I can think and plan clearer. And possibly join a gym. Every thought regarding our money situations is so intertwined. It will make better people of us yet...
Speaking of which... the Ideal Home Show was interesting. Not fantastic but interesting! There were a lot of QVC'esque cookery demonstrations, cleaning demonstrations, women selling hand/nail treatments like those stalls in shopping centre that stand around waiting to pounce when you walk by.. but the ground floor..with all the furniture, jacuzzi's, gazebo's and bathroom suites made me realise just how much I want my own house... my own home!
So yes.. cleaning up and shipping out what I don't need. SO I can try and concentrate on getting a new job that means I don't have to work weekends and can start investing in a home..without being surrounded by clutter!!!..My bugdget is being primped and preened as we "speak"...
Overtime though tomorrow night (2300-0700), then back in on Sunday (1500-2300) with minimal sleep in-between and then Monday (0700-1500) will just finish me right off. #thinkofthemoney
Only £10 spent today... breakfast, a jar of chill/onion chutney and a cup of tea. We weren't the only ones with a packed lunch!!
£7 made on eBay today as well.. not a lot but it is better than nothing I say. More items selling soon so I am happy. Might aim to place more in the next week!
Right .. I am flagging here...MancMan have fun tomorrow - it's FREEZING down here! Watch out for KarmaChi biting her nails in fear..:rotfl:..(I should make you all wear t-shirts to identify each other in public:rotfl:)...
My Approved Food order arrived... more boxes to use for moving and a LOT of retro goodies...and I mean LOTS!
Right I am off...
Onwards and upwards....“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0 -
Still need to add up ongoing totals etc. but was paid today and was 'only' £250 overdrawn when my wages went in, usually it is £400+.
Big cheers for this challenge and to you all for keeping me on track x0
