I definitely 2nd that L2B! I have found myself tidying without conscious effort and also valuing the things I do have. I am more irritated by clutter than ever before - think because a lot of it just looks like wasted GBP!

The main house is always pretty good as is dd2's bedroom but spare room and my room need some serious work and dd1's room is not my territory anymore although I am still routinely nagging for her own sake!

Definitely for me there is a messy house = messy mind = messy finances pattern. So now it must be tidy = tidy = tidy! :)

Yeah for me its about facing up to stuff and actually doing something about the things I know I need to get sorted which feels really good.

I have got a box of Enid Blyton books which have been under my bed for (ahem) 10 years. Why have I kept them? My kids are 12 and 14 and will never read them. Yes they bring back memories of my childhood but those memories will still be there whether I have the books gathering dust under the bed or not.

Looking on ebay they dont fetch much but binning them might be a step too far and they have to go. Thats on my list of things to do tomorrow.

Right - I am supposed to be working - must get on!!!

    Afternoon all!
    So, today for me...
That thing that we had to lay out £40 for was worth it. Today we got £100.00 and we've been asked back to the next stage next week and will get AT LEAST another £100.00. That'll cover all of the travel cards, the few cheeky costas we've had an the one mcd's during this. And we'd have made about £130. And more good vibes please because if we get through this next step then it could be life changing!!
Really want to know what it is your doing now :rotfl:
Payday today and ive now in the most part done the payday shuffle - I now enjoy shuffling cash round on payday and then paying off some of my cc each month. Have already paid off £70 of the cc today which should be given back to me later today for some tickets I sold to a mate. Dependent on budgets I intend to pay off another £100 maybe end of next week, this would total £370 paid off in total this month.
Kat the other £100 last weekend by the way from my BA compensation was used for new tyres:-(

Isn't it funny that as we start to organise ourselves financially, we also start to organise our lives better. Whether it is decluttering, gyming , dieting etc. Since joining this site i have lost pounds, cleared pounds and my house and my head are nicer places to live in.
My thought for the day. L2B.x

    Enjoy the show Kat.x

Totally agree. Not perfect yet but getting there. Got one more reason to get organised financially, mentally and house wise:

Hubby and I had a chat last night. We rarely ever talk money, money future etc. But last night was great. Talked through our plans for the next two or so years etc. We have a DS and always knew we want two, but rather than waiting till after the wedding at the end of next year we decided to try now :j. Thought it would just be hard to start all over again once DS is 5 or 6 and we're not getting younger ;) Financially it makes sense too or will work out ok. Loads of other reasons too. So even more motivation for me (us) to try harder here.

Should be an NSD here today, Steak and Ale pie mix in the slow cooker. Cant wait to get home.....

    Hello all!

Not too much to report really. SFD unless I succumb to a bottle of wine tonight (which after the way work is today could be highly possible)

Can't remember who it is, maybe nannygladys, who is monitoring her fuel usage. Logged my meter readings last night and compared my average usage with previous bill - leccy's down but gas is up slightly from previous bill of Nov-Feb.

*Mini Rant warning* Getting slightly annoyed with a friend of mine. She wants to buy a voucher for a pamper day out for £65 for us but her CCs are maxed out again (she has so much CC debt it frightens me) so has asked me to buy it. Only, I don't want to use my CC as I'm so close to clearing it and I know she'll not pay me back for ages, I don't want to dip into my holiday savings and I can't afford to pay it out of my weekly budget. So I said "oh leave it, something else will come up" but she thinks I'm being awkward as she says I can afford to buy it if I wanted to, it's not like I have much debt, £65's nowt!

I'm refraining from getting into a petty argument with her. TBH I probably could afford to pay £65 and wait 6 months for her to pay back her £32.50 share but I have a specific DF date and a specific weekly budget and this doesn't fit it, but she wouldn't understand. So frustrating! Also, any money I do manage to save from my weekly budget is for spends when me n Hubby go away in a few weekends time and when we go away in May...

Know how you feel His Missues friend asking me to go away with her I just can't afford it and not using my credit cards. She has no money problems so will just make out can't get time off work.

Well lodger gone, wasn't at ease with him about. Might be broke now but happy and feel safe in my home which is much more important to me.

Today will be another nsd as I am in work with a migraine and even thou there is a lot of snow at home, not going down the road of panic buying milk etc. Just want to get home and chill out. ;-) Have a good weekend folks.

His missus, strange eh the different attitudes. I guess if her CC weren't maxed out she too would think she can "afford it". £65 is a lot of money esp when your trying to be good, on a budget and want to clear your debt. I guess her LBM is not anywhere near. However, she should understand that you have debt too and extra money is carefully planned to get rid of it, hence you can't afford it.

Thrifty - I doubt my friend will ever get her LBM - her motto is "live for today, you could be dead tomorrow" Her OD swallows up her wage each month and her DH's swallows up his. I don't think she can see a way out so isn't bothering to even try. At one point we had similar levels of debt but hers has increased whilst I've worked hard to get mine down. Chances are she'll do her usual trick of getting a new 0% CC (no idea how she always gets accepted) and move all the debt around again.

Calling, glad the lodger's moved out and you can feel safe if your home once more xx

As long as you pay your minimum payments every month CC companies like you, because you're guaranteed to provide the maximum profit for them by stringing out your debt for the longest possible time. So on paper, from their point of view, you friend looks like a good bet.

Another NSD here, off to London to see the BF and have a bit more of an in depth meeting with his sister  And while I'm doing that hundreds will decend on my eBay lsitigns and commence a bidding war and I shall earn lots of money :rotfl: A girl can dream.

    Have a good weekend all!

  • Afternoon all - quick check in here as off out again for ballet show rehearsals - I wish I was joking - I'm not!

Been shopping and have updated totals - bought some of Aprils food too - to date have had £17 of "cash" by doing this and have spent £51.35 of Aprils budget for grub - buying stuff for meal plan - I know its all stuff that will be gone by the end of next month.

Karmachillovething hope the meeting with the sister goes well - as a big sister it is some what weird when someone finds my little brother attractive because hes still my brother! (by little I mean he's 31....)

Hismissus -the logical part of me say "just say no" however I know its never that easy. Chances are she will get over it and I agree that having quality time with hubby should come first.

Calling - well done at getting shot of the lodger - hope the migraine makes a fast exit too.

Learning2budget - I have never ever been this organised - its amazing!! Totally agree - with a bit of planning I am spending less, have shed over a stone in weight since Christmas and have cupboards with space in them as well as trousers! - it feels very strange!! My mum is coming to visit in May - I haven't told her anything about any of this so it will be interesting to see what she notices!

Right off to find my tutu...... (for my dd incase you are really worried).

    Love to all, happy friday!!
