Hello All!
Just a quick check in for today: dropped into the SM for some necessary bits, whcih should see me through till the end of the month. And because they were necessary I am claiming SFD no. 13. Doesn't look like I'm going to make the full 25but I might and either way I'll be close.
eBay sales seem to be going slow - hardly any watchers *sigh* Well just have to see what happens closer to the end time I guess.
Hope everybody's Tuesday is going well!

How does everyone else get around that whole 'getting swept along with events and spending more than you would like' type of moment'? I'm generally okay at saying no or asking to split the bill, but sometimes when I'm out with friends we end up going to a restaurant that's pricier than I would have chosen, or we end up ordering wine/coffee/desert etc so the bill is more than I had budgeted for. Any ideas anyone? In theory it's easy to say no, but I find that when I'm in the moment it's a bit more difficult.
Discuss.....
Its so hard isnt it? I find it easier to just stay at home sometimes rather than seem like I am quibbling over every penny. I dont really drink either and hate it when my friends buy rounds. Is it really miserable to say sorry but I will get my own drinks thanks? My friends are all either loaded or dont care about their debts so this can get really awkward.
Not a SFD today but planned spends so thats OK. Finding this month really hard going for some reason. I really wanted to buy a book from Amazon but have held off. They havent got it in the library and none second hand on ebay so I will wait until next month.
And I have just spent £23 on Zooplus. We have experimented with different foods for our dog and found that the slightly more expensive stuff really does seem to be better for him than the cheaper stuff from the supermarket. This is one thing I wont ever compromise on unless things get really desperate!0 -
Another SFD for me. Sort of. Well...... I shall explain.
I have bitten the bullet regarding the car and purchased one. Not using cash. I did however research my options to get the best deal - I wanted to borrow 4.5k and my bank offered a 5.9% deal on a 5k loan. Bizzarely its cheaper to borrow the extra £500 as loans below 5k have an interest rate of 11.9% (similar to a HP rate) - I've gone for the 5k and used it to pay for car insurance up front (which saves money). The loan also allows unlimited overpayments so although the term is 3 years I'm hoping it'll be more like 18 months.
So other than 1 major purchase, a SFD!:rudolf: DF by Xmas 2018: #83 £8,250/£15,000 55% :rudolf:

Good Evening all... all this talk of puddy-tat's has gone to my head. Found a fantastic "climbing frame / activity centre" on Zooplus for the mog when I am at work. I have arranged to go to the new house soon and take some measurements to be sure. The house has inbuilt wardrobes so she won't have anything to sit on - hence a taller more fun thing to play with.
There just might be some crinkley balls, a food distributor ball and a new tunnel...cat MAD CRAZY LADY!!! :rotfl:
Okay it's another SFD for me... thank goodness.
I am in bed doing some research on coupons..#obsession...and shall bid you all good night...

Jonesy - you don't hang about do you! Good grief that was quick! Okay it sounds like you have it all sorted...why kind of car and is it second hand? Or one of those new ones that have free tax or something for xxx amount of months...? Forgive me if I fall asleep prior to getting a responce...lol!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. NSK - its nearly new. I need a reliable car for the commute but can't justify depreciation on a brand new one. Tax is £20 a year and the garage place i'm buying it from have a deal for £300 (included in my calculations) which means they'll MOT, service and winter health check my car for the next 2 years. OH had this deal when he got his car from the same place and it's been brilliant. Plus my best friends mum works on the service desk on the MOT/servicing side.

Attention Attention!!!
It is now the 20th March and we have precisely 11 days to the end of this challenge!!!
I want everyone who put their name down for this challenge to post before the end of the day. I realise as we approach the end money gets tight, morale drops low and we might crack when a bottle of wine stares at us in the SM.
But we need to press on - push forward and never stop saving pennies where we can, earning pennies where possible and fighting against interest charges and banks alike!!!
So we need to kick Fleabay butt, take store cupboard and freezer inventories, check bank statements and update spreadsheets, budget and plan for April NOW, and more importantly for your benefit more than anything post your ENTIRE debt and plans regarding re-payment for the rest of the year.
I want to see it in black and white. OR better yet - make is pretty, make it stand out and make it PINK / BLUE / GREEN or YELLOW!
Your challenge if you wish to accept it is this....
- Post ANY weird 5-10 things on eBay tonight. Anything - used magazine, half empty perfume bottles, an old pair of trainers, a saucepan or a something weirder = for 99p only if you want! Don't tell me there is NOTHING you can sell???
I (insert your name) do hear-by swear to clear my (insert amount) debt by (insert date). I will honour the MSE code of conduct, Will we use it?Is it worth it? Is it cheaper elsewhere? If the answer to any of these is no I won't buy it! This is MY life I am living and no-one else's, I will help myself so that in (insert time frame) I will be debt free and living entirely for ME. If I don't do this now I will regret it. Here I stand (insert name) fighting the fight for eternal debt freedom.
Lets get this going today... I know SFD's are hard - so wherever you are with them I want you to aim for another 8 by the end of the month?
Do I hear a resounding "Sir, YES SIR"..????
Onwards Onwards Onwards and Forever pushing UPWARDS!!!
