YAY! My chart is amazing and i love colouring it in.
SFD today for me but i need to confess i spent £15 yesterday on comic relief/pub. This takes me over this budget but i have no other outings planned so damage limitation should be ok.
Right, I am in a quandry. Currently i am in a job where i can walk to work and be home on the dot at 4.15 (having left at 4). The job is fairly easily and some of the people I work with are genuinely good friends. Money is good and its relatively stress-free. However is fixed term (due to end at the end of April) and although extension is likely, it'll probably only be on a rolling monthly contract. It doesnt really have any career prospects or development opportunities.
I have been offered a job which is a 25min drive away. Only very slightly more money but career/study opportunity. I would need a new car for the commute and more work hours will probably be expected. And probably more stress.
My brain says to go for the job - long term its better but short term, it'll be hard work and more expensive (car & commute). What to do?:rudolf: DF by Xmas 2018: #83 £8,250/£15,000 55% :rudolf:

Jonesy... interesting quandary! You have to accept there is a possibility that the current position on a rolling monthly contract might come to an end soon yes? Do you feel frustrated at the lack of challenges that your current position brings? It seems despite these two questions you are giving up more than you are gaining...(vehicle and maintenance, stress, not much more money, more hours, new people, )..despite the career side of things being available is the new company going to cover all expenses when it comes to the study..? Do you get to study what you want to study..? Does the idea of a move make you feel a little un-easy despite the fact it "appears the better option" to a certain degree....
Ooooh lots of questions now.....“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0 -
Eugh, confessing not a sfd yesterday afterall
Had to buy the cat a new litter box as his one keeps tipping over when he's trying to pee...no wonder he is yowling at me when he wants to go. Also realised that the litter is almost run out so had to buy that, and some feliway to calm him down as he seems a bit stressed at the moment...how he can be stressed when all he does is sleep, eat and play I have no idea!
Hoping for a sfd today and I'm currently listing on the bay, I'm liking the weekly payments coming in even if they are smallAlso found it's so much quicker if I do it from my phone

Please forgive me mother KAt for I have truely sinned. Ever since the gross car service / mot bill on monday I ahve been struggling and have overspent this months budget by a stupid £152.55. I have no excuses - just a reverting to type after pulling the purse strings so tight since January 1st.
On the positive side I have made nearly £60 extra on ebay to offset this, saved £50 towards my holiday in the summer and my total debt should be down by over £200 and I have not reverted to using the credit card as I would have done before.
I know why the problem happened - I didnt log onto here every day to read the words of encouragement. I can't even promise to be good next "month" (payday is this friday) - its easter and I have relatives staying. However I do promise to spend nothing before payday and try to rack up those spend free days.44 day challenge

NSK- the job i'm in now means i have an easy worklife. However it could all come crashing down if i'm not extended. Its not in an area that particularly interests me and is quite boring/unchallenging. People are nice though. I suppose if the friendships were strong enough then we could still continue to socialise if I moved.
Re: study - the studying is to complete my CIMA qualification (something i'm not doing now). Work would pay and time invested would be 50/50 work/own time. I definately want to finish my studies and work in a financial field (which this job would offer). Moving would make me feel uneasy but only because i'm in such a comfy place now.

Really sorry haven't been posting things have been a nightmare at home and work has me run ragged.
So every night been absolutely shattered emotionally and physically so gone to bed. Things should hopefully be starting to calm down home and work. So will hopefully be able to post each day or at least every other day. On a positive note have got 12/25 SFD and been doing my weight watchers again and haven't caved yet and I am determined to do it this time. Sorry for waffling hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Hi everyone,
What a horrible wet day, its a day I dont mind having to go to work, 2 down 2 to go. Actually I dont mind too much as time always goes quickly as we are kept busy and tomorrow I wouldnt be doing too much anyway if I wasnt working, so I dont usually mind working a Sunday. I seem to get more done if I have days off in the week.
A SFD today, but yesterday I bought some toothpaste and seem to have lost it from paying to getting home, its a good job it was only value and cost 25p!!!! anyway as I work there they are going to replace it for me, well it is 25p:rotfl:I decided this month I would shop value and most of the stuff I have bought has been OK
Something nice has happened today, I have been paying an insurance for my daughter for the last 20years:eek:and it has now matured so she has a nice little nest egg, I have done this for all 3 dd's and this is the second one to mature, so she gets some surprise money and I dont have to pay out every month, win win situation:):)

Hi all, had a lovely day being taken out to lunch by my ex in laws and FIL decided to pay for my shopping - only £11 but very sweet of him and they brought me fresh eggs! So kind - think they feel sorry for me as I am now a single parent and can't hide the pinch. Lovely people too so enjoyed the company and got spoiled!
Ebay listings are picking up and many watchers - fingers and toes crossed they start bidding.
NSK - I have seen that thread and determined to be in a position to join soon. I have worked out my 1% but due to extra expenses for a few months not sure I would overpay by much in the near future. To be honest the adding up of debt was desperately shocking time for me that I was depressed for days and I still panic about the amount I owe now. This thread is helping me take hold of current spending and not borrowing more and also preparing me for the 1% thread so I can start repairing the damage.
Nannygladys - how lovely, your children are very lucky to have someone who has made long term plans and provided a little nesteggIt's also great that after all that hardworking for others you can take the pressure off yourself a bit too.
Keep marching guys. Logging in here always makes my spirits lift and reminds me there is a light... If I just keep marching!Happiness is wanting what you have...0 -
Evening all - well Birthday party complete - defo a spend day today - pretty much all to budget so not too bad!!
Missyv30 you sound like you have been put through it - well done on the SFDs and the weight watchers though - Fantastic!!
Kerri - Cat litter being sorted is fairly essential - our cat got wowly recently and started loosing weight - we think its a thyroid thing and he is now on tablets - he is fairly old. It may be something completely different for yours but the wowly thing was the most noticeable for us.
Jonesy the Cima thing sounds tempting - would they be prepared to cover some of the additional expense to get you?
Anyway off to vegitate on the sofa - childrens parties can do that to a woman - love to all,

Evening everyone,
I haven't been very good at updating, sorry. But I have been reading through the thread every day and find it really encouraging and uplifting.
I am on SFD 12 today which I am pleased about. I don't seem to have much money left to last me until the end of the March, but on a positive note I do have SOME money left which is unusual for me at this stage in the month. I am going to do everything I can to make that money last as long as possible.
