Hi everyone and thanks again, feeling mre positive and I will get there
Kerri lovely stuff in your shop, but darent buy yet, Kat would send me to the naughty step
Calling - hope you feel OK now
Today I thought I would treat Rosie (my gp) and bought a living lettuce, so when I got home from work I popped it into her hutch and meant to go and retrieve it about 5/6 mins later, so it would do another day, anyway forgot and about 30 mins later I went to retrieve it and yes you probably guessed there was nothing left, she'd eaten the lot, stalks and all, infact you couldnt even tell if there was anything growing in the first place:rotfl: I tell you what, she neednt squeak extra loud to me if shes got tummy ache:rotfl:
Anyway spend day today and besides lettuce, I needed milk and toothpaste, so signature duly updated.

Nannygladys, if it makes you feel any better I have an authorised overdraft of £2500. There was a time when if I was £2000 overdrawn I would think I had £500 left to spend!!! I am almost ashamed to admit that now. I paid some of the overdraft off then transferred the balance to a 0% credit card. I also left a well paid job - for me it was to take time out to care for my son who has serious health problems but I can relate to what you say.
So, another SFD for me today. Met my parents and took the dog for a long, muddy, snowy, trudge over the moors in the pouring rain. I may be a bit bonkers but I loved it - getting the heart and lungs working and feeling the rain in my face. Not a penny spent either. Mum brought a flask of tea and I brought cake so we sat in the car and had a picnic!
I am fairly on track with my budgets but had forgotten that I have a family birthday next week so need to buy a pressie. The car MOT was a bit less than I expected but it will need to go back in for the brakes sorting soon so I need to save up for that.
All in all I am feeling fairly positive about things, half way through the month now too. Hope everyone has a good Friday night.0 -

Evening all
Struggling to check in every day at the moment but dropping by as often as I can!
All going OK here in chilly Devon - food has gone over but still under on petrol. Misc' also over but keep getting thrown off track by things breaking etc... Have had 2 flat tyres on my pram this week. New inner tubes are £10 each:eek: and simply can't get ANYWHERE with the twins and no pram.
Although budgets are over slightly, still amazed at how much less I am spending than before xmas.
Half-way through the month! Yay!!!!
Have a lovely weekend everyone

Woohoo! First bid on one of my eBay items tonight and quite a few watchers! It's quite exciting! How sad is that?! I haven't put anything on that's worth loads but A few pounds extra always welcome.
Will update spending but I am well over the food budget and spends almost spentbut... I have still spent much less than would have and with all the expenses of vet, camp for dd2, mini break for us all and donation to comic relief I am still in the black and know where all my money has gone! Again it's quite embarassing that this is so exhilarating for me but being in control of what is going out is such a welcomed relief after the anxiety I have had about money recently.
Thank you guys, this thread is really making a difference to me and my little family. Onwards and upwards!
Ps when I say 'in the black' I mean, my bank account has enough to cover everything coming but overall in red due to cc and overdraft on one of accounts. The important thing is I am not borrowing any extra and I had lot's of extra things to pay for that we're planned but didn't think I would manage them. Camp and holiday were booked pre LBM and cheap and now paid for with real money! Yay!
Ok enough excitement for one dayHappiness is wanting what you have...0 -

Hi
Apologies for being AWOL. Hope everyone is well? I haven't got time to read all the thread I've missed so not sure whats happened this week?
Anyways ~ I've had another 4 sfds and did a top up shop for milk, bread, fruit, veg, eggs and bits for the kids packing up, but I'm still well within budget. I'm not expecting to have to spend this weekend so I'm actually on target for this month!!0 -
Morning All, checking in for yesterday I spent a £1.40 on a birthday card which then forgot to post! Then came home from work ill.
Today will be a spend day, as need new windscreen wipers, food shop but will write a list before I go so i don't aimlessly fill the trolley!
Eh xx0 -
Hi again, checking in now as i know today will not be SFD but will try to get everything for the week today. i dont often have access to any internet other than phone so can't do long posts or comments but reading everyone else's really keeps me motivated. Everyone has their own struggles but we keep each other going.
Nannygladys, it looks like a very long road at the moment but it seems if you stick with Kat and the gang for 2013 you will be in a much better place at the end of it what with CCs paid off and everything. That's what I hope to do, see out the year with you guys and celebrate whatever reduction I can achieve.
NSK re post 465, the main cause of my debts was simply not paying attention to what I was spending on day to day things. if the money ran out before payday, well that's what credit cards are for, isn't it? 10 years of that attitude soon racks up the debts. and the old favourite of 0% transfers then running up the high% card again. stupid stuff. Now following your lead I am keeping a very close eye on all spending and actually enjoying it,trying to stick to £50 week for food and cleaning, meal planning cos I love cooking anyway. Haven't been allowing myself any actual budget for personal spends then feel guilty if I buy bits and bobs so I think I will need to allow a little each month for that. Today I want to buy some new socks but I keep trying to talk myself out of it which is daft, they're about £10 for 10 pairs!
will update sig next week with new totals then from April I have extra £250 a month to throw at the cards. over the halfway mark for March, fellow warriors keep on with the battle! Onwards and upwards!MFIT -T5 #420 -
Good Morning All!!!
What a grubby, wet miserable day it is today. I intend on staying home, drinking tea and reading! It's great catching up on all the posts especially as it seems despite the weather people are in a very good mood, financially sound or getting there but ultimately positive! This is EXCELLENT! :T:T:T
I am still in bed, moggy had a fit and attacked my hand whilst typing so has been banished to the windowsill and I am chuckling at Rosie the Greedy Guinea Pig. Although those "live" lettuce's are lovely I don't really blame her. (Reminds me of those "free" wild flower seeds I bid for on a freebie website as it's fast approaching National Gardening Week. It's all I want, a little garden of my own. But these packets will be sent to my Dad to plant in our field as he has a "wild flower" section planned.)..
Anyway rambling...I had an eBay item end @ £21.99. To be collected next week although I just want it gone, another bid at .99p although 6 days to go and two watchers... AND awaiting the arrival of all my books to Amazon in order to get the credit to spend - assuming all books are accepted I stand to acquire £62 or there abouts. I am determined by this "down-sizing"...
So deposit paid to the new house I am back to calculating how I shall be funding this up-coming holiday. April is going to be a busy and expensive month...( Holiday towards the beginning, brother visiting from Ireland towards the end and moving house the day after he flies home )... gonna take some mammoth planning!
I printed out a sheet ( From the thread of 1% Challenge ) and it has 100 squares on it. My 1% is £98 and I am going to put it on my wall and colour in the squares every time I manage to pay a percentage off - including the minimal payments each month as it keeps me motivated. Gonna look like a child's bedroom soon!:rotfl:..although I shall be purchasing a wall calendar to keep me motivated as well..(free through Amazon hopefully)..
Right I am off to make an eggy muffin and another cup of tea.. Keep me posted throughout the day...
Yorkshirelass your outing sounds gorgeous. Used to do it a lot back home, free to death and then a lovely picnic makes you appreciate it even more - especially as it's free!!! ..
StopLurking it sounds like your entire attitude to money has taken a massive beating and the over-haul has done you the world of good. It means you can start planning for what you want, that will be YOUR's and no-one elses when those debts are gone. That's what is keeping me going!! I am proud of you - it can't have been easy!!!..(also Tesco do lovely socks:p...)
Everhopeful - never fun shopping when you are ill! I prepared a list last time I went and still went over it. Don't think I will need to go in this week though! Let us know how it goes...
BeckyBoo - I understand if you can't check in everyday. Things must be HECTIC!! I once took my cousins twins out (although she was with me ) - it wasn't easy! Get those tubes.. Well done on the budgeting though.. you are living proof that if you put your mind to it anything can be done..
I shall end here before this turns into another epic NSK post and bore's you all to tears...
ONWARDS AND UPWARDS..(stay dry)...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0
