A little bit of a spend day today, 99p on a coffee and 59p on a can of fizzy pop. This caffiene addiction is going to be a hard one to break, have tried to wean myself off it before and got terrible headaches. Heading in the right direction though as have downgraded from my normal coffee (around £2... what a waste of money) to the 99p filter version. It does the job just as well! :)

Just a quick from me tonight as DD3 is coming here to bury her hamster in the garden, he was nearly 2 1/2 years old, so lived a good long life for a hammy, anyway she wants him buried here, so shes on her way.

Stalking away and had to smile at this.... my mum & dads garden has always been where I buried my pets... and after I left home, whilst I still lived close by, I took a hamster, 2 gerbils, a guinea pig, a mouse and a rabbit to be buried at 'home' :P

I sound like a terrible pet owner... The reality was I had a menagerie of messed up creatures I rescued from all over the place, of different ages ;)

ANYWAY back to lurking, keep up the good work and the weird dinners folks x

  • Checking in, only spends £50 to fill the tank, but needed no unnecessary spending. Xx
  • Well now I've done it - if you are going to have a spend day may as well do it in style!! As I HAD to buy tea bags I decided to bring forward the "big" shop which was scheduled for Friday. I did this after school on the way to swimming with both my little "insert appropriate word here" in tow. They were so...... happy, spent the time poking each other, anyway I canned any treat they may have had which resulted in DS crying like a banshee at the till. This will achieve a NSD on Friday but the cost!!! :D

Anyway the sig shows that I have spend all but £60 of my food budget - sounds bad but have bought all the stuff for family dinners for the month so just milk, bread and fruit to get - works out at £20 per week from next week so should be fine.

DD got moved up a stage at swimming - she's five and in stage 4 now - working on turns and diving :eek::eek: Her current life plan is to be a swimming instructor - this has changed very recently from trainee tooth fairy :rotfl:

Anyway off to make an apron for a birthday pressie - trying to do this for all little people - I know a lot and it works out at £3.50 each including wooden spoon and cupcake menu card. Looks cute but am aware that I'm beginning to sound like a yummy mummy - so not the case I'm just tight ;)- if you had been in our local Mr T's about 5pm today I was more like supernannys evil twin!!

Anyway have a good evening - aiming for SFD till saturday now - now who had 5 already - that is seriously impressive!!

    Be good LAGL xx

PS Oooh my newbe status is gone and I got my first star :)

    Hi All

Am reporting in with SFD 4/5, am finding this SFD's quite liberating,

The potato and cheese pie sounds fab will have to try it, anything with potatoes and cheese goes down very well in this house, that said they eat anything, and will try anything,

    have a good evening

NSK - i am indeed a Jonesy - its my new surname (recently married) and i like when people do the blokey nicknamey thing with it cos you couldnt really do that with my old one. Plus I like the anonymity of being a Jones (again old name fairly unusual).

I'll pass on the potato pie offer as lovely as it sounds - I made a chowmein/stir fry thing which will also be tomorrows dinner thus avoiding any salad related problems.

Well now LGL you made me LAUGH! I am so glad you are one of those mothers that can's the goodies should naughty behaviour arise when inappropriate!! ..your "no shame" attitude to announcing you're tight..and the fact that that you are "evil super-nanny"...very good!!:rotfl:

Jonesy I am glad I got it right...

I just pulled my lovely rice dish from the oven. A little dry but nothing a good dose of sweet chilli sauce won't fix. Realise I needed veg of some sort. Quick dash to the local rip off Mr T's... ( 22p yellow sticker bread ) but there was no veg... off to Costcutter..and low and behold two big bags of broccoli and carrots for 49p each ( would never usually buy them like this). Thank you very much - £1.20 and an SFD in the bag! I shall take a bow.. all three items in the freezer until required...

I am also signing off for the night. I have been hogging the thread too much already... Hello Lilt:wave:...nice to have you lurking!!

Doris65 - well done on the SFD's.. it will turn you into a "spend hating" lunatic like the rest of us in no time. You will start to loathe spending any unnecessary dimes...:)

Sarah147 - I have the same problem with PepsiMax. Buy it in bulk and carry it with you every day. I worked out the 8 pack on special offer in Mr T's broke down to 25p a can whereas I was spending 70p a can at work in the vending machine! But well done on down-grading the coffee!!!

Right I am off - looking forward to reading more responces. Will sit for a while tomorrow checking on who hasn't commented so far and sending messages along the lines of "DON'T GIVE UP YET"...so watch out!!!:rotfl:

Well, another day gone by and I am quite pleased. I did have to get bread (we have two male teenagers in the house so sonetimes it's like thd licusts have been through) but I also went into other shops and looked but was left cold - I was kind of testing my willpower and it stayed strong.

Spent some time in the garden prepping the veg patch and sowing seeds which will become food in the future!
    Trying to keep in budget.

  • Evening all.
Apologies for not signing in yesterday, wasn't feeling my best - tired, emotional and angry but I'll get over it..... Had a good rant and blart.
Managed to organise myself today so was able to do majority of arranged spends in one day - food, couple of toiletries, birthday cards, mothers day pressie and easter eggs so feel very pleased with myself. Although most of my food budget is gone, should only need milk, fruit and veg hopefully.
For tea today, I had some spring rolls from 4ldi and a chicken korma from Mr m with rice which I already had in. So felt like a takeaway night but wasn't and cheap as chips!!!
Paid off a bit more CC debt too.:T:T:T
Off to my bed shortly, another early start tomorrow:(:(:( as on training tomorrow.
