Yes abundant me too! Truly glad to have joined this thread as NSK is my only voice of reality at the moment.:o
I do try to rationalise over spends as saving money long term but know its not true deep down. I too replace spaces in my emotional needs with food and other spending but my mindset is changing and this site definitely helps
Anyway, I had a planned spending day today and the lists and spending diary are all reminding me that financial responsibility is a great thing. I looked at my account, as I do everyday now, and knew exactly what was what. I can't express how it feels to not be sat there wondering where and on what I have spent in - I know exactly! So, ok, I am way past where I estimated to be and should probably have given myself an extra 50% for food but its so much better than would normally be.
I have also taken stock of my stores and with what I bought today I have enough for the whole month - will just need fruit, yogurt and milk later as a top up or two. So in reality will likely be over budget set for food by £20 but that will still be less than a quarter of usual food budget and hope to make that up from my spends budget.
Keep up the good work everyone and the cheerful atmosphere, really is uplifting! :THappiness is wanting what you have...0 -

Checking in after the weekend, which wasn't too bad as far as spending goes. My DH bought sone stuff which I perhaps pught to count but as it's he earns it I guess he can do a bit of shopping (he's generally very frugal).
I just bought some fresh bread on Saturday and then nothing on Sunday or today, so 2 SFD for me.
I'm labelling clothes for the nearly new sale right now. You can only ask very small amounts or they won't sell but at least the are out of my house and I make a bit. I've not yet gone as a buyer but I think I will this time and see what I can get for the summer for the kids.Trying to keep in budget.

Hello all!
My February expenditure diary was so long that I dreaded to add up my expenses...the longer it got the more I thought it will be OK... today I faced finally adding up the numbers and it happens that my expenses were less than I feared. I have allocated £500 for entertainment expenses for February but just like I said in my previous week's post, I have been rubbish at keeping up within my expenses' boundary and I went way over it! I won't say for how much as it makes me feel annoyed but I had a good time spending it! ufff now I will be back on track and ready to zero expenses this month!
Despite my over expenditure last month, I managed to save £1500...
Just an update, it has been more than a month since we ditched the TV and no one at home is missing it...
This month I am going to cancel my line rental, I have two mobiles but the one of those is coming to the end of its contract so I will also be cancelling it. We do not need a land line in this home.
I will succeed and you too!
Regards to all of you

Hi all,
Update as promised - had weekend away with friends Fri - Sun hence poor check in posts. budgets now set at petrol - 100, shopping £160 and earn 100 'new' money via ebay and babysitting. Weekend was budgeted and paid for and even packed lunch for trips both way so no 'upper crust' 'starbucks' et al for me, could not believe how much people spend in these places.
First trip out of Yorkshire this year and into city life came as a shock, shops, traffic, people more shops all felt a bit alien but did not spend a penny on clothes etc which was amazing. Had a lovely afternoon walking in the sunshine and blue skies and have come back to sprouting seeds on the windowsill. Have chives, coriander, basil, rocket and mixed salad leaves but they are tiny.
Now back to work with packed lunch and cupboards checked and recorded, no soap powder but will only need bread, milk and veg and trusty menu plan so will do that tomorrow.
Was expecting extra payments in pay this month but alas not going to be there until next month so planned spend on bathroom not going to happen (can still paint and scrape and sugar soap everywhere)
2 SFD to declare as Sat and today with a combined petrol/shop tomorrow so still hoping for 25 for the month. Just defrosting 1kg chicken thighs from my M&S haul with vouchers last month so plan on early morning slow cooker casserole with 4 as they are quite big with the remnants of the veg supply. Last 2 will be made into??? was thinking pie as it is national pie week just need to have a few more ingredients to stretch to serve 4 people.
loving everyone's stories and ABUNDANT - I think you have been told off
The most interesting thing my pooch brought me was a hedgehog which he had made into a jigsaw eww was gross, had to ask the neighbour to remove while I cowered in the corner saying 'has it gone yet?'
Anyway onwards and upwards (mainly up my stairs to bed) have a good evening peeps xJanuary 2020 Grocery challenge £119.45/£200

Hi everyone, Not sure how Im doing today, feel a bit up and down, did a bit of shopping and I seem to have mislaid some cash somewhere:(not sure how but I know I havent spent it, anyway I now only have £27 left so that will have to do me for the rest of the month, which I have just worked out is £1 a day, not that it helps but at least I have all my main meals sorted and its just fresh veg, fruit and milk thats needed and any little treats (not many now!)
Next Sunday I will be at DD3's for my dinner (mothers day) , and 23/3 Im being taken out for a Chinese buffet with friends and family so that is paid for as well:) so at least I will be having a couple of treats
Anyway less of my woes and Im not giving up:) I will get to the end of the month with a smile on my face

Evening. Well i had every intention of s sfd day but had to get a new front door key cut. So £3:90 blown by 9:16am. Was feeling fed up wondering how i would make my little£100 this month. Listed stuff to sell but nothing moving. Then i got a refund for my policy saga over xmas. Cheque is winging its way to me and i am very happy.
Need to food shop tomorrow so not a sfd need fruit and Veg cos my kids are eating like its going out of fashion!! Mustnt grumble but why is it cheaper to buy a multibagy of crisps than a punnit of blueberries??

Hi just checking in with another SFD so that's 3/25. Decided to recoup Friday's unplanned spend from grocery budget over the month. Ouch. Haven't caught up with all of the posts yet but please all keep on fighting even if some things have gone a bit awry. Still trying to work out how to make the £100. no eBay or items for jumble etc. Think I'll need to catch something funny on my non-existent camcorder and send it to YBF.MFIT -T5 #420
