My flight from Turkey to Manchester was delayed by 7 hours on 21st June. The airline (Pegasus) have said this was due to weather conditions, this is ridiculous the weather was perfect no other flights were delayed. They have ignored my follow on letter requesting further details of weather conditions. Anyone got any advice for me on this one.0

Flight numbers ? timing ? scheduled and actual.
What airport in Turkey ?
Go Here http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/EGCC/2014/6/21/DailyHistory.html?req_city=NA&req_state=NA&req_statename=NA
for Manchester weather for 21st June. 30 minute reports for the day.
You could probably find the same for the Turkish airport.0 -
Pegasus is not an EU based airline, so EU261 does not apply to flights back from Turkey at all. There is no point in writing, there is no claim, see if your insurance covers delays, most don't pay out until 12 hours or more so probably not0

Hi,
I e-mailed Pegasus Airline the flight delay claim letter I got off this website as I was delayed 6 hrs and all I got back was a standard e-mail saying they will get back to me ASAP. About 6 weeks had passed so I contacted them again to try and get a more informative response but again a standard reply. When I phone the airline they say I have to go through the website. Has anyone dealt with Pegasus and was successful in getting 1. A refund? & 2. The timescale of the refund?
Any help would be much appreciated !!0 -
I'd never heard of them but I see they are based in Turkey. They should be bound by the rules for flying into the EU (presuming your flight was indeed to or from an EU country) but if they fail to conform I'm not sure what legal system you would be able to use to pursue your claim - if it's the Turkish then I can't imagine it's going to be easy.0

Is Turkey in the EU?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Of course it isn't, the rules don't apply at all for flights from Turkey, they do apply outbound but good luck with the Turkish legal system!0

I got politely told to F off from Qatar for a similar situation.
Its not really fair. EU based airlines would have to pay the compo for both ways. This gives non EU airlines an unfair advantage price wise.0 -
*** Ignore this, I was wrong ***
The rules apply to flights originating or terminating in the EU. So if the OP was flying from the UK to Turkey then a delay in either direction is covered (in theory, although practice may be a bit trickier).0
