TAP texted yesterday to say my Friday flight to Lisbon is cancelled.
( 5 days notice )
damn, you kidding me? Was the route LHR-LIS? I wanted to complain to TAP for not bothering to inform me about a cancelled/delayed flight.... now I know they CAN text people, it may give me ammo
I think my flight will have been messed up by TAPs new aircraft arriving late. Wondering if that is enough reason for them not giving me compensation0 -

Read 261/2004 Article 5 and in particular clause 1(c) (iii) for cancellation with less than 7 days to go.
They should have sourced an alternative plane.0 -

They texted and also emailed a little later.
( Assume they had your correct mobile details ?? )
Flight was cancelled. (Not delayed )
Re-route was following day.0 -
I had flights booked from Manchester to Cairo and on to Luxor in November. Someone told me to check with Egyptair because they heard they were no flying from Manchester after 25/10/2024. I phoned Egyptair and it's true! They hadn't told me. They offered full refund or reroute via Heathrow. The additional travel expense and time involved meant I had no choice but to cancel the holiday. They refused to pay any additional expenses for travel to Heathrow. I lost a small deposit I had paid for accommodation. Can I claim any compensation from Egyptair?

EU Compensation does not apply to canceled flights when you are given more than 14 days notice.
You should receive a full refund from Egypyair for the flights and maybe look to your travel insurance for other losses0 -
Thanks Caz3121. Thought that was the case. Travel insurance said other losses were not covered (now wondering what the point of a premium policy is). It just seems there should be some way of claiming some sort of compensation for Egyptair effectively having my £800+ under false pretences (they knew they had stopped flying from Manchester and didn't let me know) and for the disappointment and hassle involved having to rearrange our holiday.0

If they were offering reroute VIA Heathrow there should not have been additional expenses. (they should have covered the MAN to LHR flight) If they were offering a replacement flight starting in Heathrow then you could have pushed more quoting EU261 for a reroute from and to your final destination. Not sure what you can do now that you have accepted the refund0 -
They were offering different flights on different dates and definitely not offering to pay travel from Manchester to Heathrow. I guess I'll just have to put that one down to experience. Very wary about booking flights now if airlines can just do that with no come back. Thanks for your response.0

Flybe are telling me that there is a court case currently going through the european courts that will change the criteria for defining the meaning of a "Technical Fault"
I am currently claiming for flight delay under "[FONT="]EC regulation 261/2004"
Is anyone aware of this court case
