Can I ask if you have full access to your OVO online account?

I can only access our details but the opening reads still do not show.

From what I read you would not get full access to the online account until 4/6 weeks after joining once your first bill has been generated.

I also can only access My Registration, My details and Logout.

My cut over date isn't until 2nd April and the My Registration wiggly time line shows that I am not at the Meter Reading stage yet. I am presuming that at the appropriate time I will be asked for meter readings and an appropriate extra link will appear on my OVO screen.

My electricity and gas symbols have now reached the end, more or less, of the wiggly line. My switch date is 19th March - haven't been asked for meter readings yet. I did read that they would ask a couple of days before.

My fixed term loan with EDF comes to an end in April and I am looking at Ovo as a possible supplier.I have been however somewhat offput by my experience when phoning their customer services to query how they had arrived at a quote they gave me (it turned out I had made a mistake in my calculations)- the person I spoke to seemed to know less about their products than I did and even had to ask me how to calculate VAT on a number and didn't know the rate (5%) he also told me that there was a direct debit discount (there isn't).Eventually I gave up and told him to let me speak to his manager who, to be fair resolved matters satisfactorily.

I suppose this is probably a 'one off' which should not put me off but still!!!!

A lot of the tariffs have kwh prices for cheque and a lower price for DD .

Bit confused over those people saying they have initiated the switch to OVO from the EDF Blue+ Promise April 2014 ...

I got as far as selecting the switch (From the Cheap Energy Club) and confirmed my details on the MoneySuperMarket site that it redirects you to but then at the bottom the button said CLICK TO SWITCH (or something similar). I obviously DON'T want to switch straight away but it wasn't clear if that is what it would do. Can't I enter a switch date anywhere ... eg May 1st (after the contract finishes on the 30th April) ?

Thanks.

Switch will take four to six weeks is what they say .
Switch now and pay no EDF exit fees . Switch later and you may end up on EDF standard tariff until the switch goes through . Plus nothing to stop Ovo raising prices if you wait .
Its a calculated gamble on my part to switch six weeks before EDF end at a fixed price to Ovo .

Believe it or not I have just changed from EDF to Ovo despite getting this quote via their own website. It also won't reset itself:

We estimate your annual bill will be £16805
That's just £1029 more than your current providerThis appears to be because they think my annual gas consumption is rather high.

But Martins' Energy Club is bringing them in 2nd place after FU!

EDF June 2015 prices for me are Gas...£45 and Electric...£48 per month. An increase of £29 per month.

For those peeps interested my annual gas consumption is 12079 kwh and annual electric consumption is 3897 kwh.

If anyone would care to plug those details in it could be interesting.

OK thanks. I understand that now but it would make far better sense if it were possible to just select a switch date.

Think I will leave it another week before switching as I don't want to miss out on my current deal too much.

Yes I agree. EDF also told me once they receive notification you keep on paying the 2014 rate until you switch.

I must say both EDF and Ovo phone support has been excellent. I wanted to test the water with Ovo.

haha "JUST £1029" well that's not too bad then is it ;-)

56.0595p Standing Charge * 365 = £204.62
11.4135p Per Unit * 2028 kWh = £231.47
3.6015p Per Unit * 14937 kWh = £537.96
Less dual fuel discount = -£60.00

TOTAL = 914.05 per year.

House is a 4 bedroom detached (2 adults + 1 child) with Solar Panels.
