.....and pineapple can also make sensitive teeth more sensitive. I'm always careful when eating fresh pineapple that I don't bite into it with my front teeth, I need to cut it up into small pieces and eat it with a fork.

  • another tip I just remembered from a Chinese friend I used to work with,

She used to slightly salt her pineapple, apparently this stops the acid in the juice causing mouth ulcers and enhances the taste. I vaguely remember trying it like this and it was ok. Not too much salt though, just a pinch sprinkled over the pineapple is enough.

Ahhh, you weren't joking were you!? I was thinking along the lines of boy doggies and how they "lovingly" attach themselves to human legs. I was rather wrong. How do you get a dog to eat pineapple though?

Oh and I am sure I read in these forums that if a dog does eat its own mess then it is lacking in certain nutrients - don't know which - but basically it is a sign of a vitamin or mineral deficiency. Don't know if the pineapple contains whatever is missing.

When I have a surplus of pineapple I grate them (peel first :D ), check how sweet they are, if they are a bit tart I add a dash of sugar. Refrigerate & have with icecream for dessert. You can freeze the grated pineapple as well. I also stew them like apple and make pineapple crumble. Again check how sweet they are, as sometimes they are naturally sweet and don't require sugar. Lucky you for getting so many. :T

pineapple crumble is the best, I tried it on holiday last year, now everytime I come home from uni I get my nan to make me some!

    you're quite welcome

when i was pregnant i had horrible problems with digestion. i kept losing weight and didn't have positive weight gain (because i kept vomiting everything up) until i discovered all of this about pineapple!

well when you are pregnant your body produces a LOT more mucus because it is lubricating your body to deal with the extra stress on your joints. unfortunately it isn't discriminate so you get a lot of mucus buildup in your throat too... i just noticed the benefit of dealing with that as a happy bonus. i had to drink 2oz pineapple juice both before and after EVERY meal otherwise i couldn't digest anything really and would just be sick after about 6 hours as it was just sitting in my stomach (yuck!)

i actually can't stand pineapple juice anymore, probably cuz i had a lifetime supply of it in 4 months time :rotfl:
