2 questions really..
(1) am totally converted to moneysaving oldstyle now!can anyone suggest which are the essential herbs/spices and basic ingrediants i should keep in my store cupboard to use to brighten up meals?
(2)Neighbour felt the need to bring round 8 fresh pineapples this evening(?!?) Supermarket was selling them for 2p each so he bought 20 (God only knows why). Help! what do i do with them? They are ripe now and need something doing with them tomorrow. I do use pineapple a lot in sweet and sour dishes and sweet curries (usually use tinned crushed pineapple for cheapness)
ANy suggestions on what i can do with them and how i can keep them please?0 -
umm...the only thing i can think of is to say that pineapples need to be 'cored' (ie, the middle bit need to be cut out).
first time i did fresh pineapple, i forgot, and couldnt figure out how it had all gone so disasterously wrong :rotfl:
how about pineapple juice?
maybe you could freeze some as ice cubes/lollies to enjoy on hot days?

When I have a surplus of pineapple I grate them (peel first
), check how sweet they are, if they are a bit tart I add a dash of sugar. Refrigerate & have with icecream for dessert. You can freeze the grated pineapple as well. I also stew them like apple and make pineapple crumble. Again check how sweet they are, as sometimes they are naturally sweet and don't require sugar. Lucky you for getting so many. :T
