Why the flight returned to LGW I don't know, but I would image it was turned around by ATC. There was at least 5 flights cancelled on the Saturday. Some got as far as being diverted to Faro before returning back to the UK. The airport did close on Saturday evening but sure of exactly when, so maybe ATC/Aena/EZY took the decision to return to LGW based on the fact they may not have been able to land, and if they could they probably wouldn't be able to take off again. Of course ACE has the added disadvantage of being hampered if the wind is blowing in the "wrong" direction and visibility is restricted. It only has ILS on runway 03.0

Well saftey first is always a priority, no exceptions. Just wondering why it was only easyjet.
Havent checked yet, but i have put the claims anyway.
What i need to sort out somehow is prove the due care easyjet provided was not adequate. 6 days later is not acceptable, when there was earlier flights to alternative airports available. But its easyjet holidays that is the problem. They say they only check the flights to original destination. And once accepted would not change. This might not now be the right forum for this0 -
I don't know how Aena/ATC make decisions about who to tell to divert. EU claim, which is the most realistic one says no compensation due. It was down to the weather and beyond the control of the airline. Whether or not easyJet Holidays did all they could I don't know. Perhaps you should be persuing them for that by means of a holiday complaint, or even the airline for insufficient "duty of care", not pushing the airline for EU261 compensation which is not due. The are two separate companies.1

Well, no suprise, i did not get the compensation. So i will now pursue via a complaint about easyjet holidays. Its a bit of an odd one i suppose as the actual holiday before the flight home was great, it was from the cancelled flight it all went wrong. Is there another forum section on here dedicated to holiday complaints.
Thanks for your help so far0 -
