you cant, not from the airline anyway, your travel insurance should cover it though, although if you ask nicely they might give yuo a goodwill payment, they have been known to do thatIf you google airline arbitration, there is a company that most airlines have signed up to including EJ that will investigate the complaint and their ruling is binding. They only charge £25 if you don’t get any reimbursement. Note. Don’t use compensation in your complaint. It infers that you are after monies in addition to what it actually cost you. In my case that was the BA flight from Pisa to LHR and the car hire to get from LHR to my home in Wales. There was also the additional parking cost for my car at Bristol airport. Total £1740,.00
They looked at my case, wrote to EJ, they again refused claiming I wasn’t entitled to compensation. I argued that I wasn’t claiming compensation just reimbursement for the cost of getting my family home, as they have a duty of care to do so within a “reasonable time”. This is usually accepted as within 24-36 hours.I hope this helps0 -
Sorry if any of this is repeated but I'm getting desperate,
EasyJet flight cancelled from Rome to Bristol because of the storm. I got no notification from the airline, it was only when I was wandering round the colosseum that the taxi firm texted me to tell me flight was cancelled.
This was at about 1pm & was due to fly at around 8pm.
I could not get through to EasyJet - there must have been 10s of thousands of others trying to get through. Checked their app for alternative flights back to the UK - nothing available within 48 hours to Bristol or any of the London airports.
So I had to make an executive decision and booked myself on a KLM flight via Amsterdam at a cost of £485.
I assumed I would be able to claim this back but now Easyjet are telling my they should have first tried to put me on another Easyjet flight back to UK within 48 hours before agreeing to me using another carrier.
Surely that can't be right - how was I supposed to contact them when their lines were jammed?
They left me totally in the lurch and I had to wing it to get myself home in time for an important meeting on Monday am. As it happens, I got back into Bristol 10 minutes earlier than I would have had I taken the cancelled flight so I'm probably not even entitled to any compensation for a delayed arrival although it ruined the rest of the day as I had to rush to the airport 4 hours earlier than I was due to.
Can anyone kindly point me in the right direction?

Did you complete the webform for additional expenses (not compensation claim, which is a diferent form) on the easyjet website?What they are saying is rubbish.But you are not due compensation, just the additonal costs of re-routing.If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

I will be able to do that when LastMinute.com send me an invoice which takes 5 days to generate for some reason completely unknown to me in this digital age!

Hi. I had a easyjet flight into luton on the 16th, but they cancelled the flight because of the storm. All other airlines were still flying into luton, only easyjet flights were cancelled. They said they took their own decision because of safety concerns. Can I get compensation?0

What happened after the flight was cancelled? Were you rerouted, delayed, put on next flight, given hotel accommodation etc? tell us more0

I was put on a flight the next day. Was offered hotel but didn't take it. Obviously, I arrived more than 3 hours late.... And I missed a clas I was supposed to give that day.
The point is that they cancelled because of safety, but that was their own decision which no other airline took.0 -
Put your flight details into EU Claims and Bott online and see what they say.0

Did they offer to re-route you on another airline? No, I though not.For future reference you have the right to re-routing on a flight that is convenient to you, at the airlines expense.You may have a case if no other airlines cancelled their fights into Luton.Have you submitted a compensation claim?If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide
