Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Easyjet ONLY

Would I? Maybe I'm just being thick here! But I paid for a return flight that didn't happen so Easyjet still have that payment. I then had to pay out of my own pocket to get the three of us home. Am I missing something really obvious, it wouldn't be the first time lol

Ha, none the wiser! I think the point I'm trying to make (badly!), is that when you break down the costs of the flights, I paid roughly £150 for the return leg. I didn't fly on that leg as it was cancelled but Easyjet still have that money. I then paid roughly £1300 to fly home. To my thinking, I've not received a service for the £150 flight so shouldn't Easyjet reimburse me £1450??

I'm running out of fingers and toes!

NO, it doesn't work that way. You cannot expect Easyjet to refund you the cost of the return flight £150 with them which was cancelled and then the full amount of £1300 for the flight you bought. That would mean you flew back to Edinburgh for nothing. You will be due £1300 minus £150 which equals £1150.

Fair enough, my mind obviously works a different way lol

And I'm still not sure if I received the correct amount of compensation (not sure if that has even been decided!)

I do remember reading something about levels of compensation being reduced but can't find that info anymore

possibly could have been reduced, how long after your original flight should have landed did your re-booked flight land?

About 5hrs I think

The Easyjet return boarding pass said 12:05 so I presume that was UK time and we actually arrived home at about 17:15. Does that mean we should have received the full amount? And if not, can i contest it?
