    You say that you didn't take the flight, but what did you do? Fly with an alternative airline? Stay at home? And at what point was your flight cancelled? More details please.
    What difference does it make if he flew with a different airline or stayed at home? Its non of EasyJet's business. The point is they didn't get him there.

    It affects his entitlement. If he flew with another airline on the same day, he can claim the cost of that flight as well as claiming compensation.

    I had to cancel the trip altogether and didn't travel
    What was the reason that the crew exceeded their work hours?
    I am not 100% sure but from the information I was given on the day of the scheduled flight it was to do with delay departing from another airport.

    Yes EJ have refunded the ticket

    Did they make you sign anything to get the refund? Because if yes, it might have said that your taking the refund as a full settlement of your claims.

    Didn't have to sign anything, completed a claim form on their website and got a refund for the flight ticket. Then using the same email chain asked them about compensation and got a response that since I didn't travel on the replacement flight compensation is not payable. As mentioned previously replacement flight was departing almost 24 hours later.

    Sorry about all the questions but it does matter in respect of your potential claim.

    Did EJ give you option of re-routing, on a different airline if necessary?
    Did you request to be booked on the next flight or did EJ do it of their own accord?
