As far as I remember, when we went to CEDR for BA, it cost £25. (We won btw). Was wondering if its the same for EasyJet.

You'd better check because they shouldn't have charged you anything.

My mistake. If you lose it can cost £25. We were not charged.

Interested in Quick feedback on whether EJ are liable for expenses on top of standard €250 pp payout for a cancelled flight they have already agreed to pay out on.

Had flight booked Gatwick to Geneva 5pm 5th April, was checked in and by chance in morning checked app to discover flight cancelled.

Called EJ immediately to be told 1st available flight 18.25 on 7th April, which was backed up by ticket availability online (screen grabs taken). As holiday only 5 days and car hire/hotel all pre-paid and non refundable, decided to book with BA via City Airport for 7am flight 6th April, incurring taxi fare and enhanced car hire costs from Geneva.

Also decided to change return flight with EJ on booking to push out another day that forced me to process a refund on the outbound flight.

Put claim in for standard EU261 compensation that was accepted but claim for expenses under EU Regulation 261/2004 was rejected as EJ state alternative flight available within 48 hrs and hence won't pay for flight, car hire change and taxi to airport.

Do I have a case via CEDR based on requesting phone records being pulled and screenshots taken of website to take EJ on. My argument is I was never offered alternative flight within 48 hrs as 18.25 flight on 7th Apr was 49.5 hrs after original departure.

Any thoughts on best course of action.

Did you ask them and/or did they discuss the possibility of rerouting with another airline or did you just book the new flight off your own vat?

Phone conversation went along following lines

Me : Can you confirm if 5pm 6th April LGW to GVA flight cancelled.
    EJ Rep : Yes

Me: Can you get me an alternative flight to Geneva from Gatwick, when's earliest
    EJ Rep : 18.25 Sunday 7th April

Me: But my holiday's paid for from tonight.
EJ Rep : It's your choice if you want to sort alternative arrangements with another carrier, all I can confirm is that first available seats are on the Sunday flight, all earlier flights are already sold out (which was backed up by attempting to rebook online in parallel)

Call ended and then sorted economy flights with BA but at much higher cost even with refund of outbound flight monies from EJ. It's this difference I'm claiming+car hire revision costs+taxi to airport.

Can't understand how EJ can now say they had a flight available at 08.10 on Saturday.

    What do you think?

I think it sounds as though you have a case for the outward journey.
The 48 hours quoted by EJ is rubbish, as far as I am aware. The wording on the regulation mentions reasonable and also what is convenient to the passenger.

EasyJet are simply lying to you. Of course you have a case.
  • I have written agreements and promises to pay but 6 months after the eventual agreement and still no receipt of money. No email addresses seem to work for anyone further up the chain ,no ability to speak to anyone but call operators that promise everything and nothing is delivered, does anybody have any suggestions

Send an NBA/LBA, if you haven't already done so, both by any email address and the registered offices of easyJet giving 14 days to pay.
Then submit small claims court papers after 14 days if no payment has been made.
