I would like to thank the forum members that helped us with the claim (especially Vauban!).I don't think we would have gone ahead with the claim without your help and reassurance:T
Well done Ms. Windmill - you always had a great case, and I am surprised that the airline resisted. Enjoy your win!0 -

Me and my wife were on a scheduled flight from manchester fo Belfast last friday night.
Initially the flight was delayed and then cancelled. I then checked what flights were available the following morning and fortunately managed to get us two seats.
Ideally i would have waited to get the free transfer onto the new flight but didnt want to take the risk that there would be no seats.
I appreciate that we are due compensation as the original flight should have landed around 9pm but we didnt get in till after 9am(as the flight on the sat morning was delayed for an hour or so).
The original flight was around £65 pounds in total, the new one around £130.
After reviewing the easyjet compensation form, there is no mention of what do regarding this. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best/lease hassle approach?
Cheers
Ray
On the face of it you are probably due compensation for the short notice cancellation, unless the reason for the delay/cancellation was an EC (rare - weather or local ATC strike/problems).
You are also due a full refund, unless in rebooking you were able to offest the original cost against the rebooked later tickets? (I am not sure if Easyjet website does this?)
If the EJ website does not allow you claim, you will have to do it the conventional (and preferred way) of either email, if you can find an address or by post (receipted for proof of posting).
If your rebooked flight was delayed by less than 3 hours, then you're not due compensation on the second flight, just the first. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Dear Martin and All
I am looking for advice. Our flight got cancelled at Gatwick airport due to runway issues and we were left abandoned by Easyjet at the airport 9pm on a Sunday night with no hotel and no further flights available that evening, the next available flight being on the Thursday…
We then proceeded to Hire a car and drive all the way to Aberdeen in the middle of the night. Having incurred costs to ourselves and a missed day of work.
Easyjet have come back saying that due that this event is classified as “extraordinary” under EC Regulation 261/2004 as it was outside of our control. This means that in this instance there is no compensation payable.
Is there any other way we can claim compensation for our cancelled flights?
Many thanks

you should receive a refund of your flight from Easyjet and could check if travel insurance would cover you for the car hire0 -
Hi,
I was due to fly back from Hamburg to Manchester on Thursday 23rd July with Easyjet. This was cancelled I think due to French Air Traffic Control strikes.
Easyjet sent me a text and I was able to move to the Friday flight at 19:10. I tried to get a hotel booked with them too using their website but it kept counting down and then timing out while I waited in the queue. They eventually sent me an email at 20:30 local time to say they'd found me a hotel but as I'd been without accommodation all day I had no choice but to already book somewhere else.
When it came to the 19:10 flight on the Friday this was delayed departure until 23:25. The airport was closed for 30 minutes prior to the original departure time due to weather which I guess doesn't help my case here.
So I appreciate I've got little chance of getting compensated for my hotel booking as they did eventually book me one but it was too late for me to cancel the one I was already in and not worth it.
Do I have any cause for a claim for anything else? I guess the weather delay means probably not but by the time I landed in Manchester I had to get a taxi home as the last train home had already departed.
Is it worth doing anything or am I going to get fobbed off? Any advice most welcome0 -
You mean 23rd June not July? Your flights were EZY1846 on both days. EUclaim state that you are probably due €250 compensation. Read Vaubans guide and send a Letter Before Action all explained in the guide.0

I have a bit of a strange one, or at least strange to me.
I had booked for me and two others to fly from Geneva to Luton on 17th June.
When we arrived at the airport, we saw delays of 3hrs 30 mins and feared the worst. We went to Easyjet who offered to put us on to another flight to Gatwick. Two of us accepted this offer, the third did not.
The flight to Gatwick was delayed also, according to flightaware it arrived at 11.08pm, the scheduled arrival was 10.15pm. Our original flight was due to arrive in Luton at 9.40pm. We then had to travel up to Luton.
One of our party stayed in hope, had his flight cancelled and did not travel until 2pm the following day, arriving at 2.40pm, 17 hours late.
I have submitted a claim to Easyjet for all three of us and they have responded to tell me that it was due to weather conditions so they are not liable.
When onboard the flight, some customers who had also changed were told that there had been a technical issue and that they had had to change the plane from an A320 to an A219 and that there would not have been enough spaces on the plane to fly everyone, hence people being offered the Gatwick flight. Sure enough, flightaware shows the incoming flight as being operated by an A319 when it is usually an A320.
So, two questions.
Can I challenge Easyjet's claim about the weather? There were several flights which flew back and forth between London and Geneva with no issue.
Also, do the two of us who flew to Gatwick have grounds for a claim?
Thanks,0 -

read Vauban's guide to taking the case to court
Usually I would suggest checking a couple of the NWNF sites to confirm whether there is a likely claim
EUClaim shows -
Our data shows that the airline can claim 'exceptional circumstances' e.g. there was a strike or bad weather conditions. This means they can't be held responsible and can't be forced to pay compensation.
While it is possible to claim compensation it's unlikely you'll be successful. We recommend not pursuing this case.
However Bottonline shows €250 possibly due
so it appears that the lawyers have a different view on whether compensation is due0 -

But before it goes to court, can I not ask them for proof of the adverse weather which they claim?0 -
You can ask but they are not obliged to reveal and indeed are unlikely to do so.0
