Using planefinder, although your flight disappeared on close approach to Dubrovnik, the time shows as about 09:45 UTC. What was your scheduled arrival time?If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Quick question. I was recently on a flight with jet2 that took off on time but one hour in to the flight we were diverted due to medical emergency. I was delayed for 5 hours.
I doubt I am due any compensation as a medical emergency is out of there control, could someone clarify that I am right or am I able to claim?
Jet2 did provide a meal voucher during the delay.
Thanks0 -

HI
Our flight was delayed on 27 may by 4 hours 40 minutes. It should have left at 15.40.
I wrote to them as suggested but hadn't then seen the template letter. I just told them the details of the flight and length of delay. They have responded saying that as a fuel hydrant system at stansted was hit by lightning it constitutes extraordinary circumstances.
Whilst our delays are nowhere near as bad as some on here. I'm annoyed by Jet2 as we had seen the news before leaving the house that day and tried to call jet2 and look at their website to see if they had details of delayed flights. The lightning was during the night and our plane was not due to fly until mid afternoon so there was plenty of time to ease congestion at the airport by informing passengers. I feel their lack of communication is remiss and we had four kids with us so incurred costs such as a meal and puzzles to keep them entertained on the floor of the airport. We spent the last two hours on the plane as the final part of the delay was because the plane lost its slot, so not directly EC but presumably as a result of lightning strike.
I've put it into bott who say we are due but their calculator doesn't take into account reasons for delay. If this still counts as EC (other flights took off before us so for how long can an earlier problem count as EC??) then should I just go with a second letter asking for recompense for the extra meal we paid for? or is it worth asking once more for the full compensation detailing the above?0 -
Have you pout your flight details in to EU Claim as well? Botts, on occasion, seem to be a tad optimistic with claim validity...If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Thank you, that was very helpful. EU claim were less optimistic...0

My experience with claiming flight delay compensation from Jet2 has been a good one. Thank you to Money Saving Expert and all who contribute in helping me understand how to state and what to include in my claim. Our flight at the end of July from MAH to EMA was delayed by about 9 hours. I sent my claim letter in a week later, rec'd an acknowledgement of receipt from Jet2 a week after that, and a cheque today for 400 euros each, not far short of £1,500 as there were 4 of us. They are also going to refund the money I paid to reserve specific seats as we didn't get these. So it took about 6 weeks for them to sort.

Hi legal magpie.
Jet 2 could not offer me any alternative flights. The next available was 4 days later. They looked at other airports also as I was flexible but again could not offer anything.
They gave me a refund for the flights then that was that.0 -

They were under an obligation to get you there and obviously did not do everything in their powers to make that happen, they should have done!
They did not attempt to use other airlines to fulfil that obligation as they could have done. What they did was the easiest and cheapest option for them, not you.
Follow L-M's advise and don't let them get away with it.Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
Hello All.
Please see letter below sent on 20th August 2018, Jet2 sent 2 standard letters acknowledging my letter and saying they would get around to it in date order. Should I wait longer? Thanks in advance.
