Friends of ours, on the exact same flight were refused compensation, because they never had their boarding passes. When you contact Jet 2, they ask for : Booking number: Lead Passenger: Flight number & Boarding card. I photocopied the lot & posted. If your going to do it.......Do it right!!!!

We have just had the email from Bott & Co re two Jet2 claims, they are finally going to pay out.:T

We weren't asked for boarding cards for either claim.

Boarding cards definitely not essential. Could have been J2 messing claimants around so they go away which is the more likely scenario.

After trying to make a claim against Jet2 ourselves, we decided we'd rather have two thirds of something than 100% of nothing so gave our claim to Botts on 22nd April. Our claim was for a 4 hour delay in 2012 where our flight from Murcia, Spain was re routed to Portugal to take a part for a broken down plane there. When we made our claim J2 hid behind the usual technical fault and its outside 2 years guff. On appealing, they dropped the the technical fault excuse and stuck to the 'you need to claim within 2 years' excuse. I didn't have the time or the will to go down the court route and on reading MSE forum, thought I'd give Botts a try. They're up front about what they charge and make it all very painless.

After only 2 months (just), got an email on Wednesday to say J2 would be paying out. Ecstatic!!

Credit to those of you who have the wherewithal to sort it yourselves but for those of you that can't face it and don't mind paying someone to do it, recommend Bott & Co highly! ☺️

Congrats from me and an excellent result, let's hope that there isn't a next time, but if there is, you'll have the confidence to do things the DIY way, Botts always seem to get results though .....

Yes, you are wrong ;) It sh'd be €600 per person for that distance. But if the delay is between 3-4 hours for that distance only, the award is halved to €300.

    Hi

I've read with interest numerous posts over the last year or so as I've pursued my claim against Jet2 after my party of four was delayed almost 20 hours on a flight from Paphos, Cyprus to Leeds/Bradford on 6/7 July 2014.

I've had letters from 10 different members of Jet2's Customer Service team over the last 12 months, three of which have specifically refused my claim. The latest reason, which was only raised in January after the Huzar ruling went against them, was that the Cypriot Department of Civil Aviation defined an extraordinary circumstance in this case.

Having conducted a fair amount of online research I was convinced my argument was sound and I didn't want to retain the services of a firm such as Bott & Co who would be entitled to a substantial amount of the award I was due.

I therefore continued to reply to Jet2 restating my claim each time seeking a justifiable reason why they wouldn't pay out.

I finally received a letter dated 17 June which I expected would be a further delaying tactic but was surprised to learn they had simply accepted my claim and enclosed a cheque for £1,144.08 (€400 for each member of my party).

The lesson is; don't give up as this is what they hope you will do. From denying claims for missing boarding passes (I obtained mine from Jet2's 'Manage My Booking' section of their own website which they presumably have full access to!) to using spurious legal-sounding arguments.

If anyone would like copies of the various letters I sent, and those from Jet2, please post direct and I'll be happy to provide.

    Good luck and keep fighting.

    Well done Mark,

And congrats on your success, you might want to remove your email addy, as a few of us on here, get 'hate mail' but that's up to you......

Your claim journey has been a relatively quick one, for others, not so easy and the early pioneers have often suffered many an injustice to get to where we are today...

    Glad you got your compensation.

    Cheers,

You definitely don't need your boarding passes. You should tell your friends to write an nba (just a letter giving them 14 days to pay or court proceedings).
Many people on here have been pursuing Jet2 for years and I doubt a single one has the boarding passes. If your friends send an nba I would be very surprised if jet2 dont just pay up. Your friend should also mention that 'their friends who were on the same flight have been paid out'.
