Can anyone offer advice. I wrote to Jet2 following our delay in early September and received the general holding letter. I wrote again on 2nd October giving them until 31st October to respond, which they haven't. Should I write to Jet2 again in light of the court case, wait or something else? All advice gratefully received0

Yes, but make this an NBA letter. then court if no satisfactory response. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Hi all, Please can anyone help find a flight number from the past. We travelled as a group booking of 47 from Leeds/Bradford to Alicante in on Friday 2nd October 2009 but picked up a delay of over 5 hours for our party. We had previously been led to believe there was a 2 year restriction on claims. but listening Paul Lewis on the BBC Saturday Morning he said it was 6 years and providing you can give dates names and flight details then a claim can be initiated. We have all the names dates but no flight number.
On top of this we again were delayed by 10 hours in 2012 but only 51 of us this time on an Alicante Leeds flight on Tuesday 16th October which we have already initiated the claim but have been rebuffed. What is the best way to move both these claims forward now in view of the latest ruling please
Regards

Hi, forgive my ignorance but an nba letter? I have sent a letter to jet2 from the mse page and received the standard reply saying they were dealing with all claims in date order. Since the supreme court ruling in our favour, what next? Write to their customer services again, the CAA, or small claims

Thanks for the link Tyzap - I post another link which seems to suggest that if everybody claimed it MAY add 50p per passenger per flight....

We need to consider some basic economics in this matter. Costs are only one factor in deciding the price of a good - demand v supply are usually much more important factors. Suppliers always talk up costs in an attempt to spoof the market (remember how car insurance was going to get much more expensive and didn't?).
Low cost airlines increased the 'supply' of the good (flights) so the price fell dramatically. Sure they paid a lot of attention to reducing costs but they also did cunning work on market segmentation etc. Then the big boys piled in - money to be made - and the price went down again.
What probably will make a difference to service is that airlines will be making huge efforts to get 'under the bar' with delays as they know this will more or less automatically cost them big bucks. Which is what the original legislation intended...0 -
my delay calcualted on flightstats website is 178 minutes, just undere the 3hour mark.
has anyone been in same situation and claimed for a 3 hour delay, as the gap in compensation entitlement between under 3 hours and 3 hours is substantial.
can i claim for what is essentially a 3 hour delay? might jet2's records have the delay down as 3 hours +, and be different to flight stats?0 -

there is no compensation for under 3 hours. If you read the guide in the Sticky you will see that the measure should be to the doors opening whilst flightstats will record touchdown. You will likely have to go to court to show that the door was not opened until after the 3 hours (but don't believe that information is recorded anywhere)0 -
Sorry have not been here for a long time.
Flight to Faro from LBA,
We were on the runway about to take off, when the captain announced there was a problem and took us back to the stand.
We waited on the plane for an hour whilst the problem was fixed, Pilot then revved the engines.
We were then asked to disembark and collect our luggage as if we had just landed, and check in again.
They put two planes on and we arrived in Faro about 5 hours late.
Wrote to CAA and Jet2 ,extraordinary circumstance was that old chestnut Anti-Ice valve fault..
In view of the recent court ruling is this no longer an extraordinary circumstance .
Our flight was the first flight from Leeds that morning so the aircraft had come in the night before,
surely the fault should have been discovered by the previous crew?
Can you post a link to your "sticky" with the relevant info.
Finally I understand Jet2 operate an older fleet of aircraft and they have at least 2 aircraft on standby because they expect to encounter these delays0
