23/6/13, our flight from Faro to East Midlands was delayed due to problems retracting the steps from the plane. We had to leave the plane and wait for a replacement plane to arrive, which resulted in delay approaching 7 hours. I know that we are entitled to compensation, but what are the chances of us getting any monetary compensation?

Not sure I quite follow. Do you think there's a chance you might be compensated with fruit?

Unless ... surely you're not going to ask ...

Trying to be a little more helpful... I'm seeking compensation and will persevere if only to keep them busy. I appalled by their evasion/fobbing off tactics, even fabricating events and sweetening by offering a refund. I'll keep nagging and see what happens. The more of us that do the same....? Well it might not make a difference but it's a question of not letting them get away with it too easily.
• Hei,

I have problem with claiming back money for hotel expenses from Ryanair. Has anyone information how to do that?

That's exactly what I mean, as I don't want to fly with them again....and I get the feeling I will be fobbed off with excuses, from what I read. Am I wasting my time by pursuing a claim?

Snowyw,
Welcome to the world of Ryanair customer relations. Do have a good read on here about other people's experience of dealing with Ryanair.
Are you wasting your time?
I think not - from the short post you have given it seems you have a case for compensation under 261/2004 which you will have read plenty about.
Will it be paid from Ryanair as a matter of course because they know this?
No definitely not.
Ryanair will probably refuse to answer your e mails, letters and whatever correspondence you choose to try and resolve your matter.
Again look at the threads on here and the template letters on how to approach Ryanair regarding your matter.
When they have ignored this initiate court proceedings through the European Small Claims Procedure using form (A). Have a look at blondmarks threads about this.
Even through this procedure Ryanair don't comply and play the ' long game'
Ryanair want you to go away/ give up/ get bored/ lose the will to live so they don't have to pay you the compensation you are due even though they charge each and every one of its passengers a levy to cover 261/2004 claimants.
It's not a quick win with Ryanair from my experience ( and I've not got the result I want yet) but do please move your case forward and give it the persistence it needs to bring fruition ( pardon the pun) to what it appears you are entitled to.
Successfully sued Ryanair in 2013/14...and have been 'helping' litigants since then.

Current known score:-
Dr Watson 35 - 0 Ryanair / Ince and Co

Go to post 622 on the Ryanair thread to read how to sue them safely.

Ill try and keep this short as i could go on for ages about our situation.

We (me, my wife and 2 small children. 2 and 4) got stuck in Majorca during the French air traffic control strike.

I am in process of claiming compensation for our delayed flight which was the day after the strikes.

Our flight was delayed over 3 hours - i dont know why. I have wrote to them and they have agreed to repay me my expenses. Im having no luck with compensation. Surprise, surprise.

Ryanair have said:

"We sincerely regret the delay to your recent flight FR9593 from Palma de Mallorca to Liverpool on the 13/06/2013, which was due to an unexpected operational fault. It was necessary to delay the departure of this flight until the fault was rectified and the aircraft was cleared for operation.. "

They then go on to say:

"However, as this delay was outside of Ryanair's control due to extraordinary circumstances, we regret to advise that no compensation is due under EU261"

Surely this cannot fall under extraordinary circumstances.... Its their fault.

Can anyone give me some advice on how to get some compensation back, even if it includes taking them to a SCC (small claims court).

Maybe they might back down once something like that is filed agaisnt them?

I have no experience in taking complaints any further than i already have.

Thanks

Have a good read of post nr 2 in this thread and also blondmark's posts on how to claim using the European Small Claim procedure in this thread.
Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.

Thanks, have used the template for court action. See what they say.
• ...now what?

Having jumped through all prescribed hoops so far, I eventually (after a fair bit of tooing and froing) received notification that the European Courts had awarded in my favour and demanded Ryan Air pay out in the region of £1500. They were told they had a month to pay, after which their credit rating would suffer etc. I thought that would probably do it.

But a month later, still no response/payment from them. Anyone else in a similar boat? What can I do to get them to actually cough up?
