Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Ryanair ONLY

  • Hi, in March I was on a flight from Glasgow to Paris Beauvais that was cancelled because of snow. We were instructed to go by train to Edinburgh and spend the night, then we were booked on a flight from Edinburgh the next morning. However, this flight also was cancelled. Then Ryanair told us that we would have to wait in Edinburgh 2 additional days before they could fly us back to Beauvais. At this point the snowfall had ended, all the airports around Paris including Beauvais had reopened by midday, and there were lots of other flights going from Edinburgh to Paris. As I couldn't afford to miss an additional 3 days of work (including the cancelled Glasgow flight) I asked Ryanair to pay for us to fly on another carrier. They refused, and so we bought tickets on another carrier at our own expense. Don't the regulations say that they have to put passengers on the "first available" flight? We did file a complaint asking for reimbursement. They agreed to reimburse the train, hotel & meals costs in Edinburgh, although it took about 3 months and numerous requests as they kept "misplacing" our file. However they absolutely refuse to reimburse us for the flight on the other carrier. Any advice on this?

Nope. Not in those exact words. They say

under comparable transport conditions, to their final destination at the earliest opportunity

    I'll leave advice to others.

As richardw stated to you a couple of posts ago, you must use the European small claims procedure NOT MCOL.

    See more here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=59005629&postcount=50

    Thanks,

I think ive found the right documents now. Form A,B,C,D.

Should i be attaching proof of purchases over there and letters that have been sent and recieved to Ryanair as evidence?

I will have to go through all pages before i send it off but just wondering if there was anything i need to know or any advice.

    Thanks

Edit: Do i just need to complete these forms and take them to my local court and ask them to file these against Ryanair or what?

Before which court do i need to make the claim? (Mine, or theres)

Section 4. On what ground do you consider the court/tribunal to have jurisdiction? ..I assume 4.1-Domicile of the defendant

Section 5. Cross-border nature of the case. What member state is the court?

How much is the court fee?

    Can i claim back interest?

As a noobie i am struggling for some of these anwsers and places to find them. Ive done some googling and also some reading of peoples previous posts but it doesnt really give me the right understanding to anwser and fill in my own form.

    Hope someone can help.
  • Can anyone give me some details on how we can claim back expenses from Ryan Air, as we flew home from another airport & a different airline, due to not being able to get home for another week with Ryan Air, they are stating EU laws that they dont have to pay ???

I was just trying to find out exactly how long our flight was delayed. just to double check.

I cant find it on flightstats. There is no info on it anywhere. Ive tried all thje days and times around there, tried searching by airport arrivals/departures etc. cant find it listed.

If anyone can have a look for me that would be great.

PMI > LPL FR9593 was scheduled for 10pm on 13/06/13. took off no earlier than 1:30am on 14/06/13.

Only info I could find seemed to indicate Ryanair had flight from PMI to LPL on 14.06.13 with their reference RYR1GF operated by a Boeing B738 registration EI-ENL which landed at Liverpool at 14.45 hrs but as this is an afternoon flight I assume it is a different one to your early (1.30 am) flight.

Yes that is a different flight. our plane was a boeing 787 i think.

Ive tried all possible searches. searching palma airport (pmi) departures and liverpool arrivals on those dates.

Then again ive tried to find some other Ryanair flight info and cant seem to see very much.

Flightaware has said that some airlines can block info and appear as BLK but i cant even find it listed.

I will look again on ATC records - I assume your date is correct - Ryanair only operate 737's or derivatives - no chance they would have a 787!
