Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Ryanair ONLY

Was anyone else on Flight FR 612 from Derry to Stansted on 11th July 2012? It was delayed for over 3 hours. Airport staff told us that Ryanair had forgotten to organise a crew for that flight.
I have contacted Ryanair by letter and email, but they have not replied. They seem not to answer the phone either.
Is it expensive to make an EU claim?0 -

They are hoping you will go away with your tail between you legs.0 -
I have given them every chance to sort it out like adults. They didn't want to, so i'll let EU Claims have a go at them, because i can't be bothered dealing with them anymore.0

We were supposed to be flying to Majorca tonight from EMA on a long awaited weeks holiday.
Being self employed it is my one week per year, temp staff have been employed to cover me, house sitter arranged etc.
Ryanair offices close at 6pm - at 6.17pm last night I received an email cancelling my flight. It came on my work email so I didn't get it until this morning - when their office doesn't open until 9am but they did offer me an emergency number costing £1 per minute. I waited until 9am.
After finally getting through at 9.45 I was told the next time they can get me to Majorca is Sat night - not acceptable as all arrangements are made for a wednesday return.
I've managed to get myself booked out tomorrow on an alternative airline at an additional cost of ap[prox £400.
If all flights were cancelled I would understand but other airlines are still flying to Spain - ryanair made the decision not to.
I beleive there are no special circumstances - other airlines are still flying- so it is their decision that has caused me financial loss, a reduced holiday and the stress involved in finding my own alternative arrangements.
I'll have a go when I get home
OK
Home and ready to take up the fight!!
To cliam my refund on the cancelled flight do I have to fill in the online form or is there an email address I can contact.
What I don't want to do is complete the on line request and by doing so some how confirm that I am happy and relinquish any right to further claim or compensation.
Any idea anyone??0 -
Thanks Centipede
Thats not actually the case if you read my original post.
It was on the outward journey they cancelled the flight not the return.
Yes - I took the decision to salvage something from my one week per year holiday!
Other airlines were still flying the route that day and I have proof of this fact although they were heavily delayed. All flights through French airspace were NOT cancelled. they just reduced capacity.
Ryanair knew about the strike well in advance (same as other airlines) but chose to make no contingency plans or advance warnings of cancellations. I do not beleive an email at 6.17pm the night before we were due at an airport at 3pm the next day is sufficient notice.
Offering me a flight from an airport 4 hours drive away, four days later is obviously not acceptable as this would have given my family an annual holiday of 3 days.
Sorry - didn't mean to rant but I am very upset about how they handled the situation. I honestly beleive thet took a financial decision to cancel those flights on the wednesday and at this stage I am prepared to fight for more back than a straight refund. Really, after having these flights booked ages, Hotels booked and paid for, Transfers booked and paid for, why should I lose out financially because they decided to save themselves some hassle??
I just don't want to prejudice my arguement if by filling in the online refund request.0 -
Thanks again
Unfortunately my credit card wont let me just move on lol. I've got to have a go just for my own peace of mind.
When they cancelled the flight I had nowhere to stay so had to stay overnight in a Birmingham Airport hotel - housesitters had already moved in!
I couldn't extend my stay as temp staff were employed to man my business while I was away
I really was left with no choice but to seek an alternative flight and obviously being last minute flights were at top price.
I know the excuse they will put forward, one which I would have (un)happily accepted if other airlines were not flying but this is not the case. Also I know I will probably get nowhere but I do believe that they owe me something.
Times are tough and we saved and scrimped to go away at all and we managed to afford a cheap 7 night all inclusive in Majorca. For the final cost of our 6 nights there I could have had a week in Dubai!!
Legally I am sure that they have covered their !!!!!! but morally they are in the wrong and I also maintain that the way they handled the cancellation - sending an email 20 minutes after their offices closed was calculated and immoral.
I work in the Travel industry (nothing to do with airlines hence my uncertainty) and I wouldn't last 5 minutes if i treated my customers this way.
At the end of the day what have I got to lose??0 -
Today I have submitted form A. At least I think I have... My local court had never seen form A, initially suggested I had used the wrong form, and eventually told me to take it to a different court miles away. After some discussion, they agreed to post it to the (hopefully) relevant court on my behalf. .0

When I initially contacted my local court they had never heard of the form and tried to direct me to a central court and use a totally different process. A quick e mail to the court at the nearest major city to me - and they knew all about it. Hopefully your local court will have forwarded your form to your nearest major court and they should know how to process it further.Successfully sued Ryanair in 2013/14...and have been 'helping' litigants since then.

I sympathise, morally they are a disgrace. Others will argue that you pay your money and get an equable service, no doubt.
To an extent, I agree, that's Ryanair for you.
However, I agree with Centipede, the chances of taking RA to court and being succesful over this is remote.
The only other avenue I can think of, is to check out the 'Which!' site from the link in the FAQ's, there's some details about using the Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act to pursue a claim jointly against the card company.
I'm suggesting this as you refer to a credit card in your post, so I'm assuming you paid for the flights on a credit card?0 -
Hi
Yes I booked the flights on a cc. They are refunding the cancelled sectors but my arguement is as they took my money to fly me to Palma on a set date they should pay for me to get to Palma on that date. They weren't flying but others where (why??) so they should be responsible for any extra cost incurred.
It was only Ryanair who cancelled hundreds of flights during the strike. If other airlines can manage to run flights why were they unable to??
These are questions I will be asking them0
