Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Ryanair ONLY

Have you tried using the Resolver website as suggested by MSE?
I had a 6 hour delayed Ryanair flight on 17th March so went to Resolver to claim compensation. They do all the letter templates for you and all you have to do is fill in the relevant flight details. Then they send it to the right person within the company for you. They'll even escalate if you don't get a reply.
It's worth the time it takes to send the emails, on 11th May Ryanair agreed to pay me over £300 which is more than the flights even cost.0 -

We suffered a delayed flight with Ryanair on New Year's Eve 2011, and last year took it up with them after following the MSE templates. They tried to weasel out of it several times but after the ECJ judgment last September we contacted them again and they paid us £610.80!
I nearly lost the will to live as finding the necessary online apllication for on their website was very difficult initially, and then when I tried to track my claim online or reply to them I had to quote my booking reference which they came back and said was invalid (it wasn't!). I ended up having to complete a new claim form every time I replied to their previous correspondence - really aggravating and annoying but hey! It was worth it in the end!
So please don't accept no for an answer - keep at them and don't let them wear you down!!0 -
This is my first time on here so I am hoping for some help please!
I flew to Alicante for a Conference on 17 March and had a return flight booked on the Sunday 20 March which was called by Ryanair due to the French Air Traffic Controllers strike. The earliest I could rebook (they were either not flying or were full) was the Wednesday 23 March which means I had to pay for an additional three nights accommodation. Ryanair are claiming Force Majeure so not only have I not had a refund for the cancelled flight, but I want to know please if they have any responsibilities to offer me any compensation towards my additional expenses. I could try and claim through my travel insurance by I am pretty cross with Ryanair and the lack of customer care. Advice very welcome thanks.0 -
have a read of Vauban's guide
whilst compensation does not apply in the case of strike, EU261 duty of care does...this assumed you travelled back on the Ryanair flight on the 23rd.
If you did travel back on the next available flight they could get you on, did you have to buy a new ticket for that flight?which flight are you expecting a refund for - a refund would be applicable if it was unused and you chose to go off and book with another carrier in which case duty of care is likely not due from Ryanair0 -
Thanks for this.
I had to purchase a new ticket for the flight back on the 23rd March. I got a text alert informing my flight was cancelled on the Sunday lunchtime (for an evening fight) and advising me to rebook. All flights were also cancelled on the Monday - and the Tuesday was full. The earliest I could and did rebook was the Tuesday. I could have gone with another carrier but it would have been close to £500 - in hindsight I wish I had as I spent over that on hotels for the other three nights.0 -
Paula - you should have been offered the following options by Ryanair:
1. Full refund, make your own way home.
2. Rebooked on next available flight by Ryanair (which sound s athough it was Tuesday or Wednesday?) You should have been rebooked without ANY additional cost AND Ryanair should have made arrangements for your accomodationand sustinence up until that point. If yu sol of the things, you should submit copies of all your receipts - airline tickets, food (except alcohol) and accomodation.
All airlines will spin you the most bovine excrement they can, to avoid paying out under their duty of care under reg 261/2004. I suspect because you didn't know the regs and rules and have paid for everything they think they'll get away with it.
Not if you visit this forum they wont!
Don't stand for any more BS from them, read Vauban's most excellent guide, have a look at reg 261/2004, especially articles 678 and it will all become clear. And you maybe even crosser! If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

ihavethesun,
Do you have friends/family that are domiciled in the UK? If so using their address could be a way to instigate ESCP for yourself.
Be aware though of the slim chance of needing to appear at a UK court.....that's a long way from Asia.
Good luck and keep going.
Thank you then, I will go for it!
I think I saw before some example of how to fill the form and what to include, but I can't find it anymore, does anyone know where it is?0 -
The link is in Vauban's guide - google and downloadIf you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide
