Flight delay and cancellation compensation, BA ONLY

According to this ruling it looks like BA may handle the claim possibly. I really hope so because I can't seem to get anywhere with submitting the claim to Vueling.
that is a different situation and refers to wet leases so not relevant in your situation. It is 100% Vueling that you should deal with. You will find people's experiences on the "other EU airlines" thread0 -
This may well have already been asked so apologies if so or if I missed it in the guide which I have read.
Just had my BA flight from Stansted >> Milan cancelled this morning. 10am flight cancelled at 5am and as I understand it due to an airline issue. Not an ideal start to the holiday as there are no other BA flights from Stansted which left only option changing flights to Heathrow which means we now arrive at 21:30 tonight as opposed to mid day. From what I can see there is a pretty black and white case for compensation for 250 euros for myself and my partner (guess our 6 month old doesnt count!
What I am wondering is if it is also possible to claim for expenses (non refundable parking at Stansted) and the travel costs to get form Stansted to Heathrow in addition to the compensation and the fact that we now cannot get to our booked hotel in time so need to book somehwre additionally for tonight? I am guessing not and we look to travel insurance for this?
Thank you in advance! Tom0 -
Have you downloaded Vauban's superb guide? This will help you in your claim. Forget emails website webforms etc, just send good old fashioned letter, with proof of posting, give them 14-21 days then send NBA.If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

You can claim transport costs to LHR from BA. The rest is for your travel insurance. You can claim compensation from an infant as long as they've paid something for their ticket (which they do on BA).0 -

Thanks for the reply Caz. No clue what you mean but you know more than me.
Will see what reply we get back from BA while I keep trying to lodge the claim with Vueling. Still having no success doing that. Get either try later, or no record of this booking. Frustrating.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

Good Morning Guys,
Was due to fly home on Friday evening (23:15) from Barcelona to London Gatwick. Five hours beforehand we got an text from BA advising that the flight was cancelled and to check our booking for alternative options.
The alternative option given was a afternoon flight back to Heathrow, I rung through to advise that whilst an afternoon flight wasn't ideal we would take it but it had to be to Gatwick. I was popped on hold before the lady came back to me to advise that there was no alternative and that the afternoon flight was no longer available, so would be put on a evening flight
I said not to bother, and we booked with Vueling for Saturday morning (£400 for the pair of us). We also had to get a hotel for the evening (£80) a taxi there (£20) and dinner that night (£47).
Out of interest last night I went on to the BA website and the manage my booking option, they are now offering a flight back on the 30th November :rotfl:
This morning I have sent an email to BA advising of the above and photos of all the receipts. I am just wondering what the chances are of getting the above money back?0 -
Can you confirm you were due to fly on the Friday evening, which was cancelled.
So you were offered an afternoon flight on the Friday and then an evening flight on the Friday, but both to Heathrow?
If so I suspect you may struggle with getting your re-routing costs with Vueling back. Although the regulation states that re-routing options must be convenient to the passenger, I suspect if it went to court a judge may think BA offers were reasonable, although I accept the hassle of getting from Heathrow to Gatwick, which BA should have arranged and paid for, is not convenient.
Did BA offer to book with an alternative airline, as they should?
You maybe due compensation for the cancelled flight, depending on the reason for the cancellation. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Apologies, I was not clear in my original post.
My flight time was 23:15 on Friday evening from Barcelona to London Gatwick.
They then text saying the flight had been cancelled I had been preliminary booked on the 18:20 from Barcelona to London Heathrow on Saturday.
However when on the phone asking about an alternative flight to Gatwick, the lady advised that the 18:20 was no longer available and all they could offer was the 20:40 from Barcelona to London Heathrow on the Saturday evening.
BA didn't book us on to any alternative flight, we had to do that ourselves.0
