You didn't have to stay and listen to this, or buy anything at that point.
I'm not sure how much comeback you will have with this, as I suspect the agreement you have signed is directly with the hotel or similar, and nothing to do with TUI and I suspect there's nothing much you can legally enforce now you're back home.
Have they given you the refund once you advised you'd changed your mind?
There are tripadvisor reviews warning about pushy sales techniques - did you not see these when you were checking?
We only got a refund after the holiday but received 90% due to “processing fee’s” and apparently we had used higher tier services (which we hadn’t) and they had no records to show us when we asked.0 -
Tyzap thank you for your reply! Appreciated.
Jpears - really no need for your rudeness.. ' we were' better.
Sorry for the incorrect grammar used that seemed to have ruined your day yesterday!0 -
We were due last Saturday 16th june 2018 to fly back from fueteventura to birmingham airport flight time was due to take off at 20.55 and expected to land at 00.55 on 17th june 2018 . Tui flight TOM7679. Due to circumstances at bhx airport that day the flight was delayed up to the point we all had to collect our luggage again and leave the airport as it closes completley at 00.00. We were at the airport from appox 19.00. Everyone on the flight was shipped out to various hotels and ours was nearly an hour and half from the airport. Offered food which was disgusting and room which we slept on our own towels as the sheets were so yellow. Bus collected next morning at 11.00 and we finally after yet another delay boarded the plane at 16.40 and took off at 17.30 and arrived bhx 21.12. Nearly 24hrs delay and yet i am still unsure if we can make a claim due to the "extroidinary circumstances" wording i have been reading so i need some advice before i go any further. We also missed out on the food vouchers for each person as we arrived back to the airport on the 17th and were so hungry after not eating since we left our hotel the previous day we got our own food before any vouchers were issued can i also claim back for this food we had to purchase ? . A long first post but hopefully someone can help rather than me going via one of these claim companies.0

EuClaim says you could be entitled to 400euro per passenger put your flight details into bottonline and see what they say.0

You need to determine the reason for the delay. First step would be to ask the airline or simply send them a claim for compensation.0

Welcome.
The first thing you need to do is repost on the Thomson TUI thread. Posting your own new thread makes it difficult to navigate the board and difficult for future users to search answers.
Secondly download Vaubans superb guide for all your answers. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Just trying to work out if my parents are entitled to compensation due to their flight delays. They were due to return from Fuerteventura to Birmingham Airport last Saturday with TUI and their flight was initially delayed due to a problem with the runway at Birmingham Airport (another flight had to make an unscheduled landing and they sprayed the runway with foam meaning it needed cleaning before planes could land, thus delaying the rest of the flights). They were due to fly back on Sat evening but by 11pm, they were still in Fuerteventura and flight was cancelled until the Sunday. They were taken to a hotel for the night before being brought back to the airport at about 11am on the Sunday. They were originally told that they would be on a flight at 3.15pm but the plane didn't leave until 5.15pm and they arrived back in Birmingham at approx 9.30pm. So, my main questions are - does the Saturday flight count as a delayed or cancelled flight? Is there a difference when claiming compensation? They weren't put on an alternative flight on the Sunday, it was the Sat flight held until Sunday when there was a gap to send it back. What sort of compensation should they be seeking? Any help is greatly appreciated. x0

Hi Amysmum18,
They could well be due EU261 compensation, much depends on the detail. Please read Vaubans great guide and apply to the airline to see what they say first.
Please let us know the result.
Good luck. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
My eldest got caught up in this. Birmingham airport was shut due to an aircraft making an emergency landing.
A flight diverted there after suffering hydraulic failure. It landed successfully but the runway was closed due to being covered in foam. They also had to shift the stricken aircraft.
Hope this information is useful.0 -
Just checked BHX twitter feed and it looks like the runway was closed from roughly around 6am to 8.30am on 16th June 18.
Some passengers not happy at all...
