Was just wondering if anyone that was on the Gatwick to Sanford flight on the 25th April 2014 and the return flight 2 weeks later 9th May have had any luck with Compensation via Thomson?
I received an email from someone at thomsons two days ago stating they have been handed my correspondence to review and that they will be in touch shortly.
Not holding my breath as already been waiting well over 2 months for a reply.
Doesn't really matter now anyway as I've handed it all over to a nwnf jobbie. Don't need the stress and in my opinion if I get even 2 thirds back it's better than nothing.

I had a 24 hour delay from Florida to Manchester last week. Flight from Dominican Republic to Manchester diverted to Azores, apparently as the Captain shut down one of the two engines on a Dreamliner, so that plane was unavailable to go out from Manchester to Sanford. Replacement aircraft and crew sourced which meant a 9 hr delay for those going from Manchester, and crew rest periods meant that the flight back was 24 hours and 20 minutes late coming back.
Is this worth bothering with, or are they going to try and claim exceptional circumstances? Personally, the fact that the Dreamliners were a month late going into service, have only been in service with Thomson for around 2 or 3 months and have been plagued by reliability problems in the meantime, would seem to indicate that normal wear and tear/maintenance issues cannot really be blamed.
Any opinions gratefully received.0 -

They may claim extraordinary circumstances but this should not put you off claiming - maybe check with a no win no fee before you decide what to do.0 -

I flew with Thompson in February. The incoming flight was delayed by the weather, which is quite common on this route, resulting in a 5.5 hour delay. The flight was to a ski town, so the weather can be bad.
Thompson made the delay a lot worse by deciding to reroute the flight, around 200 miles from the original airport. They then transferred us all to the original airport via bus, making the total arrival delay 10 hours.
On the plane, they tried to offer us food but hadn't managed to restock, so ran out after the first two rows. No water or drinks were offered, because of stock issues.
They ignored our letter asking for compensation, claiming extraordinary circumstances caused the initial delay.
Do I send a letter before action now?If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Hi,
We were on the flight from Sanford on 24th April before your flight which was delayed 8 hours and 23 mins!
Have been back and forth corresponding with Thomsons and I quoted the Jet2 case last time I wrote. My latest letter received today advises me to wait until the Supreme Court ruling on the appeal. I'm unsure whether to do this or proceed to small claims court.
Would be interested in how you and others are getting on?0 -

Has anyone any up to date info. concerning the above Appeal to the Supreme Court?
The local Court handling my Claim against Thomson's have just notified me that they have extended the 'stay' until October 31st. 2014 and it would appear that they have done this at their own discretion. I am wondering if they have taken this decision based on some updated information which they have concerning the Appeal and it's acceptance to be considered by the Supreme Court.0 -
You could read the Huzar thread, where 111KAB posted a helpful update very recently.0
