    Hi folks.

I finally got a response yesterday after intially contacting them in Nov 2012.

They have given me a voucher for £720.14. How do they come to these figures? I thought it was set amounts (£250, £400 etc per person?)
Also, is it fairly straightforward asking for the cash equivalent? I could be doing with the cash more tbh.

Must have been elsewhere then as I have definitely seen it. I too checked the search facility on here - possibly on general flight delay forum that is not TC specific and maybe a little less sarcastic.

Letter with voucher for £727 received today for 9 hour delay on 9th July 2009 for flight to Manchester from Bodrum, email going tonight to request a cheque!

Thanks to all on here for their advice and good luck to everyone with their claims. Took me 2 letters and 1 email to get a result!

Congrats to all who have had been able to get thomas cook to pay out. Have all of you successful claimants been able to produce boarding cards, tickets etc as per the sandard letter from Thomas Cook as they are refusing to examine the circumstances of my delay in 2010 without these documents.
    Comments would be appreciated.

I had the original booking form, although my flight was only this year

My view, for what it is worth, is that it would be for them to show you were not on the flight. They have the relevant records and this sounds like their usual avoiding tactics

Surely though, they will have a list of passengers names is it not up to the claimant to prove they are the same person as that named.
If it were not, someone who is less than honest could try to claim the compensation rather than the correct person!

They wouldn't need to prove it. No one could pretend they were on the flight if they wasn't! Even if they shared the same name with someone they couldn't possibly share addresses or passport numbers. TC has records of these.

Has anyone tried to gain information using the freedom of information act? Would that get some of your questions answered?

So folk don't change addresses, are you sure about the passport numbers, has anyone been asked for them as proof? I've never seen that on here as it would save folk having to find booking references etc.

But of course conmen don't operate and wouldn't do such a thing wouldn't they?

I wondered if anyone can let me know what I should do next.

I have sent the first standard claim letter and received a phone call from TC customer service saying they had received my letter and would write to the airline. The man (Robbie) confirmed he had in front of him the reason for the flight delay was as I had quoted (light out in passenger toilet ), he said they had to write to the airline to confirm. I've never had any letters from them, just this phone call and another call today (after a chaser letter) stating still waiting on airline? Waiting for what? An answer that they already have... They have the reason for the delay. So do I have to get written confirmation of the fault or proceed to court. Thanks
