Does anyone know if tc would have asked for this transfer to be done? Can we say it's not convenient for us? No one asked us.
Don't get me wrong we would still attend but seems unfair for us to have to trail to Liverpool (at least two hours journey)with three kids, youngest being two ,when wakefield is twenty mins up the road.

Funny thing is when we first complained about our flight disruption (just before the regulation compensation headlines)
if thomas cook had said we re sorry for the inconvenience and here's £200 as a gesture of good will .we would have said thank you very much and we would have happily booked with them again.we really wouldn't have considered court action if we hadn't been shown such blatant disregard for a valid complaint.tc have a lot to learn about customer service.

Yes - you can ask. But the good news is that the Liverpool judges working on this issue have become quite expert. So although it is inconvenient, you'll have an experienced judge who won't be hoodwinked. And as the airline knows this, they may settle.

(You don't need both to attend court - so you don't have to drag the kids along. Unless you make a day of it in Liverpool.)

    Thanks for that valuable info!
    Liverpool it is then,
We may make a sightseeing trip out of it and stay overnight

you do not need to (should not) start a new thread. This is the one that would be applicable for Condor https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4445431 so you should post on this

Have a read of this first as it may answer your questions

They will probably come back eventually and tell you that any claim is from the airline not them
You need to make your claim from Pegasus

    Thanks for the reply.
I did just that yesterday and got a reply today saying they will investigate then get back to me.
    Not holding my breath
  • Please help , in july we had a 15 hour delay from sharm to birmingham , initially the flight was supposed to be leaving at 9.30pm , it was delayed for a few hours then cancelled , we were moved at 3.30am to a hotel , told we had to check out by 8am to be taken back to the airport to fly at 12 , because of the 6 hour drive to get home from birmingham we were booked into a hotel , this was lost because of the delay , when i got home i contacted thomas cook wanting a full compensation for the delay , today i have had a reply ,
    Dear Mr Davies

Thank you for contacting us about your flight.

I am sorry that your flight with us was delayed and for any inconvenience that this must have caused you. We work really hard to ensure that when a flight is delayed the disruption caused is kept to an absolute minimum.

Unfortunately there are a number of factors that can contribute to a delay that have to be considered, such as Airport Authorities or Air Traffic Control, before an up to date departure time can be secured. As soon as confirmed information becomes available we commit to telling our customers at the airport or in resort. As an apology we would like you to accept a voucher to the value of £150.00. I’m really sorry for any disappointment caused as a result of the delay. This payment is in full and final settlement for everyone on your booking.

The on-time performance of your flight is as important to us as it is to you, and I’m really sorry that you were delayed. Once again, thank you for contacting us, and we look forward to welcoming you to travel with us again soon.

    Kind Regards,

    Ross Milne

    Customer Relations

The delay was caused because of a customer on a previous flight had kicked internal covers off bearing wires and they had to fly somebody from cairo to check , this would mean the crew would be out of flying hours absolute rubbish , is it worth me taking the voucher or telling them no way as they are admitting its there fault .Regards Richie

what was the reason given for the delay?
  • The reason for the delay before the flight was cancelled was on the incoming flight , a passenger kicked a panel off inside the plane this
made cables visible , the captain informed us that this needed to be checked out , but they did not have anybody at sharm and that they would have to fly someone down from cairo , this would leave the flying crew no time to load the passengers and by then the crew would be out of flying hours and an hour later the flight was cancelled

Richied, if the story is true, then it might be a rare case of being outside the airlines control. Flights to Sharm are at the very end of the maximum permitted flight times for pilots, they get extra time off before and after the route. If the aircraft was damaged and needed checking them an extra hour or two would put them over permitted hours.

The real question is what state was the passenger in to do such damage on the outbound flight, if he had a mental episode without warning then it may be outside their control, if he was drunk when he boarded and they continued to allow him to drink and the suddenly said 'enough is enough' at which point he went berserk, then they may be the 'authors of their own misfortune' but how you will find the truth without taking legal action I do not know. If there was evidence of damage on board, you may be in some difficulty

many thanks for the reply , the flight was originally on time , no comotion could be seen , to everybody that was there , this just seemed like a story to fob us off , would you take the voucher on offer or continue my battle with thomas cook , or seek help from a no win no fee company to claim the full compenstion for a 15hour delay , thomas cooks reply seems to be going off on another direction regarding there excuses of why the flight was delayed then cancelled ,going on about airport authorities and air traffic control giving details of when flight times can be confirmed in order for the information to be given out

    regards
