  • Hello, I have just learnt about the ability to claim for a delayed flight. We had a 6.5 hour delay with TC at Dalaman (Turkey) just over 2 years ago.

The MSE advice recommends I put my details in writing but TC's website encourages people to discuss it over the phone.

    Two questions:
    1. Should I persevere and use the template to write to them, if so has anyone got the appropriate address?
    2. I no longer have any email evidence of the booking (been deleted) will this hamper my claim?

    Thanks

Hmmm... An unexpected safety issue? What they mean is a technical fault which is covered by the regs. As they are willing to give you £100 to shut you up then they know damm well you are owed the full amount. But there's the problem, you could be in for a long wait until they sort out this Huzar appeal if you want to go for the full amount and they decide to dig their heals in. Ask them what the safety fault was. And don't even bother with the CAA. They are as much use as a condom machine in the Vatican.

I asked what the safety fault was and TC refused to answer

Of course they did. It's because it's a technical fault and they don't want you to know that. If you think about it, all technical faults that prevents a plane from taking off could be described as an unexpected safety issue. The Thomas Cook bull***t machine strikes again!

You need to do some reading; have you seen anything on the forum to suggest that discussing things will get you compensation?

Read the FAQs to familiarise yourself with the process and decide if you want to do it yourself or use a no win no fee firm. I assume the address is on the forum if you search.
    2. I no longer have any email evidence of the booking (been deleted) will this hamper my claim?

    Covered in FAQs.

Forgive my ignorance but what is an NBA :)

I have emailed them again, and asked them for a full report of their investigation. Surely I am entitled to that? After we originally disembarked the aircraft, we were informed by the TC staff that the part was being sent down from Heathrow, that they had a new crew etc. At 8:30pm they told us it had been sent at 10:30pm they told us it was being worked on! and at 11:30ish they told us that we wouldn't be flying. :/

Not as I understand it - at least, not until you get to court. I always take it as a positive sign if they won't give information. If they had some credible argument, do you think they would be so reticent?

Notice or Letter Before Action. See FAQ and Taking Airlines to Court. Its your way of saying to airline payup or my next move is to start legal action. Part of CPR "rules", frequently abused by the airlines.
