Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Thomas Cook ONLY

  • Can anyone help me please. I recently claimed back compensation for flight delays with Thomas Cook from a August 2007 package holiday. I received £1023.00 for 3 adults this was for a 23 hour delay from Manchester to larnaca Cyprus. We were also then delayed 26 hours on the return flight from larnaca to Manchester. Thomas Cook then told me we have to claim from Cyprus airlines as the delay was from there. Is this correct or do I claim from Thomas Cook as I booked my package holiday with them. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Yes you can. Whether you succeed will depend largely on the reasons for the delay.
  • If you read though the 290 pages of this thread you will find your answer........multiple times.
  • A judge in Small Claims Court turned down my appeal against a twenty-three hour delay with a Thomas Cook Flight Oct 2009 due to the Fuel Flow Generator having to be replaced at Malta airport.
    Can I resubmit these claim for compensation following the latest ruling.

    perhaps someone can provide some guidance please?

    we flew on TCA flight from BFS to FUE on the 09/01/2010,
    the scheduled departure was for 09:00am, but the flight was struck by a baggage tractor and the flight was delayed by 4hours.

    we have checked flightstats.co.uk but due to a "technical problem" they can't confirm the delay.

    does anyone have any idea to confirm the extend of the delay?

    many thanks

    Not unless it was a recent decision - and I guess it wasn't. How frustrating for you!

    Write to the airline and they will tell you - or try one of the claims websites calculators to see if their database thinks your delay qualifies.

    I wonder if you could please help?
    I had an almost 5 hour delay from Rhodes to manchester in June. The letter provided by TC stated it was due to 'operational problems'.
    I have written to TC and received a response stating that I am not entitled to compensation as;

    A full investigation has been carried out to find out what the cause of the delay was and from that we can see that the flight was delayed due to unexpected safety issues. Our Engineering and Operations Teams took all reasonable steps to minimise the delay and despite our routine maintenance schedules, which comply with CAA regulations, and the manufacturers recommendations, the problem could not have been prevented.

    How do I prove what the cause of the delay was and is this worth persuing?

    TIA
