Depends how long the delay is. If it runs into the following day when there is a similar flight number operating that route already the delayed flight will usually be given a different flight number.
thank you for the help. i had a look at flightstats.com. i found the flightn ..not that i completly understand it though. hoping it may have said why we were delayed (hoping too much i suppose) but what i was trying to ask was
if my flight number was TCX72 flying out and my sceduled plane to come home was TCX72, but they swapped our plane Gatwick with a manchester plane, would we then take on their flight number or would we keep ours or like u said after a long delay change it altogether0 -
My flight on 3/3/2005 from Manchester to Orlando was delayed for 6 hours. I wrote to Thomas Cook on 20/1/2014 as I had not heard about
EU 261/2004 before the money program and received the following:-
I am writing in response to your letter regarding your recent travel arrangements with Thomas Cook.
Initially, I would like to apologise for the disruption to your flight plans. Please be assured that a lot of work goes on behind the scenes to ensure that any delays are kept to an absolute minimum, as we do fully understand the inconvenience and frustration these can cause.
As you are aware, the European Court of Justice confirmed in October 2012 that passengers could now claim for flight delays in line with Regulation 261/2004, and that this would apply to retrospective delays. The legal rules around historical claims dictate that customers have to submit a claim within 6 years of the date of the delay in question. As the delay to which you refer is outside of this time frame, unfortunately you do not qualify for a payment under the rules of this scheme.
Please be assured that on-time performance is a key measure for us as a business, and we constantly review our operations to ensure we deliver the best results, and service. I would like to offer our apologies for any inconvenience you were caused on this occasion and I hope that despite this, your trip was found to be an enjoyable one.
Is there anything I can do about this or is it too late.0 -

My niece and her family were delayed 3 years ago on flight from Cuba. She also went on this holiday with a friend and her family , the two families had booked the same holiday (dates/flights/hotel etc) same day. Both sent the compensation letters off before Christmas, her friend has been paid and Thomas Cook have said to my niece that despite setailed searches they can find no record of her and her family on the passenger logs!. The difference is her friend had sent copies of flight tickets and boarding passes which my niece has not kept. Can anyone advise the way forward for her please? I have suggested a copy of her credit card statement showing payment. If she has to take this forward can the court make Thomas Cook produce the 'passenger log' as she will most definitely be on this and proves she is entitled to this compensation along with her friend. Any suggestions please?0

Try to assemble as much evidence as possible that she was on the flight - credit card statements (as you say), plus passport stamps and any emails with booking details, etc. Also she should do a Subject Access Request (google for a template) to see what data the airline holds on her. If she booked through a travel agent, they may still have records of the booking.0 -
I currently have a case for the Cuban flight going through the court. My case was stayed until after the jet2 vs huzar hearing.

Of course i will. have awful feeling the DJ will just stay it on the day, but am armed with excellent tips off this site and some recent fab help from Vauban.

Let me know when you are near court in your case as the defence i have filed by T Cook refers mainly to your flight, half of it relates to the day before i was due to fly, i.e your Cuban flight!

She can start court proceedings regardless. But if the airline contest that she was on the plane, it will be for her to persuade the judge that "on the balance of probabilities" she was. A quick SAR letter ought to help clarify matters.0 -
Hi,
I flew on a Thomas Cook flight that was delayed by 8 hrs from Tenerife last summer. I know the flight dates and times etc but I have lost the flight number.
Do I need to put this in my letter to make a legitimate claim?0
