Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Thomas Cook ONLY

I started a claim on 29th March 2013 in respect of a delay to flight TCX3217 from Enfidha to Glasgow on 16th October 2011. As many other posters have reported, "extraordinary circumstances" were used as an excuse. Any request to be advised what these circumstances were was refused because the reasons were "commercially confidential". I was unwilling to put good money after bad by going to court so put the matter in the hands of the CAA at the end of May. 10 days ago, I got a travel voucher from Thomas Cook for £678 in settlement. I considered asking for a cheque instead but, as we are due a holiday, I am taking the voucher. Please don't give up. If anyone reading this was on that flight, you now have a precedent to help you.0

Start with the first page of the Thomas Cook thread, lots of similar tales on there
Post further on that thread if you need to0 -
I was delayed for over 3h on a flight from Manchester to Tenerife TCX6412 on 26/10/13. Before I start the process can anybody clear up teh situation regarding boarding passes etc? I have the booking reference for the holiday, but the boarding passes and flight tickets are long gone. Do I need them? Is there a standard procedure for obtaining them from TC?
I *eventually* got compensation from TC - all correspondence was done via e-mail and/or their website 'contact us' section.
At no time did they ask for any proof that we were on the flight.
It *only* took eight months and I was grateful that two others on here were on the same flight and had already claimed successfully.
Hang in there0 -
You may need SOME proof you were on the manifest therefore research via this website and you will see plenty of posts regarding SAR's, email confirmations, credit card bookings etc
All booked via a travel agent in person - no email trail to follow I'm afraid. All the invoices etc have gone. I did get some money back from TC for my room not being as described (which must be some sort of proof that I was actually on the island) and I do have a printed letter that was given out at the airport from the TC desk explaining the delay. I'm not sure what an SAR is0 -
Ive followed this thread since Nov 2012 (flight delay to vegas) Fantastic tips and help.
I now have a court date 29th Jan. All docs to be filed 15th. i did mine before xmas, and Thomas Cook dated theirs 15th, arrived Sat 17th . No surprise, enclosed a proposed order suggesting a 'stay' for 3 months pending the Huzar outcome.
Im dropping off a letter opposing this Monday.
They have attached a statement from thomas cook senior operations and customer service analyst in support of their defence.
Has anyone else had this. If so, more tips will be useful. They also say the actual appeal on huzar is to be heard shortly. I thought is was an application for permission to appeal.
Anyone got any up to date info i can use in my letter to the Judge?
Any assistance would be gratefully received. Am now getting v nervous.
Thanks0 -
Yes, Murty, I think your experience is shared by about 95% of folk in similar circumstances. Frustrating, but no real harm done. Your victory will only be more sweet when it (eventually) comes.0

we as a family were delayed for 8 hours on a return flight last year with thomas cook. after a few e mails they have offered me a voucher for two of the passengers at £50 each. it was my daughters 13th birthday that day and she missed her own party through the delay .do we have to accept the £100 compensation ??? also as we are not planning on flying again in the near future a voucher is not a lot of use..0

Hi martyn page,
As your question is about TC you should post under that thread as new threads make the site hard to navigate.
If you go to the top of the page and click on Forum Search you can find out why you don't have to accept vouchers if you don't want them.
Good luck. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -

And certainly not for £50 each!0
