Just seen the program about flight delays about 5 years back me and the husband were delayed from lanzarote to Birmingham and were delayed for 23 hours and put up in a hotel in the end. But because it was Gran Canaria and outside Europe can we still claim. The reason for the delay if I remember right was the was no plane there to catch.

Did a little looking at the sites from the first post and :

    On-time Departure Term Arrival Term
Flight Rating Airline Sched Actual Gate Sched Actual Gate Status Equip. Track
    TCX 527
Thomas Cook Airlines 9:52 PM ~
    1:50 AM 10:05PM T-1 Landed
It says the flight was due in at 1.50am but did not get in till 10.50pm that's 20 odd hours.
Can't seem to find a email address for Thomas Cook filled a form out from the web site see what that does.
    Thanks again MSE good job.

Hiya, after following the templates on claiming compensation for a delayed flight Thomas Cook just refuse to pay. I was delayed over 18 hrs coming home from Zante. I sent them the prepared letter template and they claimed an extraordinary occurance of a pump failure that was out of there control. The CAA gave me the Greek Enforcement Dept. email address. I contacted them and had a positive response. They then asked them on three occassions to pay me and they said no. After studying the technical documents the Greek Enforcement Dept. got back to me and told me the problem had been reported on a previous flight and they also claim the crew went over hours. Both not extraordinary circumstances and was told I could go ahead and seek a legal claim. Since then I sent a recorded letter of notice to go to small claims court and to reply within 14 days. And again nothing, not a peep. This has been ongoing since June 2013. Where do I go next and how do you go to small claims court. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
  • Hi all, myself and my wife were delayed on Flight TCX608L from Hurghada to Manchester in May 2008 by 8 hours or so, unfortunately I have no evidence of our holiday, understandably that went years ago, it was booked online with Thomas Cook, no emails left either, the only proof I have is the entry and exit visa in my passport from Hurghada, I've already read on Tripadvisor of one couple being knocked back as it was unusual circumstances, given that I've about 4 months before the six year rule applies and its past the 5 year rule for the passenger manifest to be kept (I read that earlier in the forum) is there any point in making a claim? What are the thoughts about making a claim, would there be any point given the above? Many thanks, John

First post. We had a delay of 9+ hours on above flight. Should have arrived home 6pm 21st Sept, arrived 3.33am on 22nd Sept. I submitted the template letter and received reply asking for documents which I returned immediately, including copy of letter we were given when we arrived at Man airport which gave delay times (from TC). Last night I received email giving extraordinary circumstances so not entitled to refund. We were told at Ibiza Airport during the delay that the problem was something to do with "paperwork" from TC. I emailed back and told TC of this, saying no way was this "extraordinary". The email I received last night did not give any reason for the delay at all.
Has anybody else had a result on this flight?
Hi grandma43. I've just come across your post regarding TCX2049, Ibiza-Manchester 21 Sept 2011 and wondered if you'd had any success with your claim. My friend and I were on the same flight and we are currently in the middle of trying to claim compensation. Our original claim forms were rejected and further correspondence was no more successful. We were told that, as far as TC are concerned, the matter is closed. We are now contemplating our next step. Any help or advice you, or anyone else, are able to give us would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Pretty much all the info you need is either in the FAQs or repeated ad nauseam in this forum. Do some reading and if you still have further questions that are not readily answered in the forum by all means ask. This is not a spoon feeding forum and in order to make a successful claim you need to do your own legwork.[/QUOTE]

i would like to thank you all for your help but i am having some difficulty understanding some/most of the technical jargon used, more so when it comes down to the laws and regulations. yes i am having some difficulty with page one.
i dont mind doing leg work, i have written loads of letters and calls to thomas cook who keep telling me the same. no entitlement to compensation. then letters to caa who have now passed my complaint back to thomas cook to have another look caa did not even look at it. and again TC say no payout fot tec-fault

I AM SORRY BUT I JUST DONT KNOW WHAT TO :(:(DO:embarasse:embarasse:embarasse:embarasse:embarasse:embarasse:embarasse:embarasse

You don't have to apologise for struggling with it - it isn't easy. But you might want to consider approaching a NWNF company, who might take it on for you. If you win, they'll take about a third of the award.
  • I am starting this thread for those claiming flight delay or cancellation compensation from Thomas Cook.

Any posts regarding any other airline in this thread will be ignored (at least by me).

Register with the fligtstats.co.uk website and taker a look yourself. Like 111KAB on the other thread, I can only see the Jet2 flight. There was also a Thomson flight from Manchester due to arrive in the early hours from Manchester - but I don't think that is yours.

If you cannot produce any evidence that you took this flight - and you don't seem very sure yourself - I cannot see how you will make a claim. The airlines are unlikely to have kept the information either from so long ago.
  • Thanks, I have registered on flight stats and there is nothing, will have to keep searching
