Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Thomas Cook ONLY

Well, we had an 8 hour delay leaving Glasgow on 17th May, arriving in Menorca. We missed a day of our holiday and I am now trying to claim compensation. I phoned Thomas Cook and received the generated email that most people did, so I emailed back with every detail of our delay in a very strong email. One week on and no response so I will now send a letter with the email enclosed and I will send a letter every week for one month until they respond, and if they don't I will go to the next stage and I will not stop until we receive compensation!!
Good luck to everyone who is claiming.0 -
Oh and ours was a technical delay with an update given every 2 hours. Appalling!!:mad:0

I'm not sure if anybody else has tried this email, I have had some response up until I called them a liar !
Well, don't lie. If you have already settled for some of my fellow passengers then do not tell me that my delay was "extraordinary circumstances"

And then I was told that no comment could be made about other cases, hang on they were on the same flight sat behind me.
LOL
MCOL here I come0 -

Are you sure that shouldn't be dob@thomascook.com?0 -
Hi,
We were delayed for 8 hours on a flight (TCX2016) to Enfidha from Manchester on Sunday 5th May 2013 due to a hydraulic failure. As soon as we returned I drafted a letter using the template from here and included Thomas Cook's own small print, they say they may provide compensation if there is a significant loss of days at destination in relation to holiday length, which for us there was.
I sent the letter on the 15th and received and email on June 6th to say they were investigating and would be contacting us again. This morning, 11th, we received another email saying they were very sorry and had attached a voucher for £690!
It would appear from this forum that we appear to be one of the lucky ones, but I hope this helps someone0 -

I know we can ask for a cheque instead, but we'll keep the voucher to fund a holiday we didn't think we'd be able to have without feeling like we've spent money we shouldn't have!
I'm not sure of the exact wording of the email at the moment as it's on my husband's account. But I can check later to let everyone know exactly what they said and how the compensation was calculated. I know it says in the guide that we should have been entitled to about £339 per person for our delay and flight length which is £678 in total.
Checked the email it says we've been compensated under the 261/2004 regulation. It doesn't give an exchange rate and the exact amount is £696, which is roughly 815 Euros.0 -
Question them by all means however it is highly likely you will need to take them to Court.
Thanks - Ive written a strongly worded letter stating that they have contradicted themselves, and if they are standing by EC then they need to prove it and explain why no contingency plans were in place. Next step CAA and court I guess. I figured 14 days is reasonable before I initiate action. Lets see how it goes.....0 -

Dont even bother with the CCA, you will waste at least 5 months and the response will be negative0 -
As I previously posted, I eventually got a reply from TC after several months, rejecting my claim and stating "industrial action".
which I dispute.
I trawled through a few sites and found one called go.spain.com on which they published a list of dates for Spanish air strikes. The date which affected my flight was not shown! Therefore, as I thought, TC are trying to fob me off.
I have now asked for proof of their "industrial action" claim so will await the outcome0
