I know we can ask for a cheque instead, but we'll keep the voucher to fund a holiday we didn't think we'd be able to have without feeling like we've spent money we shouldn't have!

I'm not sure of the exact wording of the email at the moment as it's on my husband's account. But I can check later to let everyone know exactly what they said and how the compensation was calculated. I know it says in the guide that we should have been entitled to about £339 per person for our delay and flight length which is £678 in total.
Plus if you book another Thomas Cook flight, there is a pretty good chance you will be delayed, and get more vouchers

I previously posted about a delay of 20+ hours from the dominican republic in Oct 2007 on mytravel flight. Thomas Cook denied the claim due to not being able to find the flight log. They took over the company before my holiday so claim falls with Thomas Cook. Sent to CAA, after 3 months they emailed to say it would take at least 4-5 months more to investigate and there would not be enough time to claim before the 6 year mark was reached. Sent my claim through MCOL, Thomas Cook requested an additional 2 weeks to defend the entire claim. Waiting to hear back on there excuses, will update with results.

If you try it please remove the extra "r", lol

It was used by Karen Borthwick and I replied to it a couple of times, so it is good

Nice one. Oviously too many people has cottoned on to using the other one so they changed it. I've got nothing more to say to them. In the hands of my solicitor now.

Hi I wrote to TC following the advice on this forum back in January about a delayed flight to Fuerteventura in May 2010. No real battle had although TC did originally just send £200 in a voucher for this delay.
I telephoned to ask about getting payment in cheque form and returned the voucher (after photocopying it!) via special delivery. Less than 2 weeks later I had a phonecall from Falkirk saying I would be receiving £704(!!!) which I was obviously delighted with.
4 days later I received an email saying no compensation was due. A quick phonecall that week to see what was going on and it was confirmed that we were due £704 and the cheque came on Monday. RESULT!!!
Just waiting for the cheque to come for a Manchester - Banjul delay at £1090 in exchange for the returned voucher.
THANK YOU to this forum for posting the template letter and addresses and advice on requesting cheque payment rather than vouchers it REALLY helped and made the process a LOT easier....

You're right, Lynda and it's such a shame that TC don't seem to deal with enough cases as efficiently as mine although there seems to be a number of forumites who have had their claims settled really quickly from more recent trips. In my experience it helped to have the paperwork and letter from the airline to send off with my letter.

I think it's a case of having to persevere, unfortunately, and hope that TC pay up in the end.

    |Have you checked on the flightstats website to see if other planes were being delayed in otr out os spain on your dates. You could also contact the AESA the Spanish NEB, they looked into my case, and got a letter from them saying TC should tip up. They didn't of course, but reckon it will look good in my court case next month

I have today sent a letter to AESA but am having difficulty in checking the Flightstats for other flights in and out of Palma on that date. Any suggestions please?
  • Hi, another NEWBIE
Anyone out there made a claim in respect of Flight TCX5245 from Corfu to East Midlands 11th June 2012?
Delayed by 7hrs 23 minutes due to "Aircraft rotation, late arrival of aircraft from another sector" (explanation provided by e-mail for insurers who rejected the claim as under 12 hours) I cannot think this reason can be classed as an extraordinary circumstance.

So far I have sent two letters to TCA first on 21st March and then on 24th April. Neither have generated any response or even acknowledgement.
CAA just refer me to the Greek authorities (why are the CAA not responsible for a UK airline flying from and EU airport to the UK?)

Any conclusion on what e-mail address to try to get a response from TCA?

Is it the Small Claims Court for me?
