Did you know the sex of your baby?

With our 1st we didn't know (boy) and after a horrible labour I didn't really care. With our 2nd (girl) we wanted to know as I had always said that I would never go through childbirth again but after counselling we decided to try again.
When we found out I was pregnant we wanted everything to be on our terms so we were allowed a sexing scan. It was also great for our DS who was 4 1/2at the time to know that he was getting a baby sister.
If we were to have another (we won't be though as we now have a beautiful puppy instead!!) we wouldn't want to find out.

I knew the sex of both my ds and dd and it was wonderful to be able to call them by their names throughout the pregnancy. I'm not keen on surprises and because of a medical problem I had to have an amniocenteses test for each of them so could find out the sex even though it was 26 and 23 years ago. To me the excitement was actually seeing and getting to meet my babies and of course we had lots of excitement on the days we were told the sex.0

I did't find out the sex of either of mine. Everything is so de-mystified/medicalisd nowadays with pregnancy etc that I wanted to keep something special. Personally I feel wanting to know the sex for things like clothes/nursery decor is trivial, it's as if the baby is just to be some sort of fashion accessory! So you really just have to decide for yourself and make the decision you're comfortable with.0

DS1 about 20 minutes before I went in for emergency c-section, when the lady doing the ultrasound said 'This little man needs to be out ASAP' we nearly lost him. I was pleased as everything I had bought was BLUE! Instinct ? Hospital policy then was not to tell even if they could see for certain.
Because of this I had scans fortnightly at first then later weekly with DS2, I found out with him when a midwife who was doing the ultrasound also slipped up but I was going to ask. I liked being prepared. I also knew I was having a boy, just could tell.
Pretty good at telling what others will have aswell, only failed once, twin boys I thought and they were one of each. Weird, I usually do keep it to myself. One day I might be more organised...........

No, was told at about 18 weeks with DS that the consultant 'thought' it was a girl - we didnt ask at my 37 week scan, and out popped a boy, lucky i had only bought white stuff!!!
Was tempted to ask with DD, but decided as they got it wrong the first time, there was no point and it would be a nice surprise - and both times it was a wonderful!!!!0 -
With my first I didn't want to know at all... I was absolutely sure I was having a boy but had a girl - which was a surprise but a happy one

With my second I absolutely had to know and it was a boy - which I was equally happy with
I think with my first I was just looking forward to having a baby but I knew the second would be my last so I wanted to know what my family would be - either 2 girls or 1 of each
I've no idea why I felt so differently each time but I was as adamant both times
You should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs

What other reason could there be for knowing?
This is a moneysaving forum and I want my baby to have the best. The baby is not the accessory, but it needs quite a few. And they come segregated into colours. Even things like some baby monitors come in blue and pink! Am I to rush out shopping on the way home from hospital, because there aren't many people who are gonna come visiting.:wall:0
