Hope Omnasia comes back soon - I actually find myself getting a bit concerned about her. xxx

I'm sure she's fine, didn't she say they had visitors? Probably busy with them.

In any case, there have never been any incidents of ghosties or !!!!!s causing people harm so no need to worry on that front. ;)

Thank you so much RuthnJasper but don't worry I am coping. I have indeed been busy with the visitors but we have had a rather eventful 24 hours.

When they came back from London they contacted a medium through someone else they know over here and he visited today. More on that in a moment. Last night they set up a camera, nothing professional but it did the job. According to them it showed 'orbs'. For me looking at it, it just looked like bits of dust or insects floating about, definitely no large animal which I had half expected. These bits of dust could never open a door !

So then today the medium showed up. Bear in mind that I didn't mention to the visitors about what my husband had heard about murder/suicide. I didn't want to give them too much information, especially that, as it was in no way definite. I don't know whether the medium (local) had any access to any information concerning the house and indeed do not know what information is out there in the public domain as we have not yet found anything - still working on it though.

So he goes upstairs and feels a definite presence. I deliberately looked at the bedroom furthest from the one we had the problem with, to try to see if he would go to that one. Didn't work and he homed in straight away to the suspect bedroom. He said he could sense fear, anger and sadness but not evil. He had some sort of contact with a female, very distressed. He said 'he's trying to get in' and kept repeating it. I didn't understand some of what he said but finally he asked her to leave and to let us live here in peace.

Then he went and said we won't have any more problems. Well, I don't know, it does actually feel quite peaceful at the moment but we are all downstairs having just eaten (and couple of glasses of wine). Time will tell. The thing is, I don't really believe in this sort of thing, it is quite alien to me and so I feel quite bewildered. Our next task is to uncover whatever we can about the history of the house and see if there is anything to suggest a murder or whatever.

I think if we do discover a murdered woman, I will just think he read it somewhere, I just can't help it. He did not charge us anything and in fact seemed quite 'normal'.

I will update if there are any more developments but just for now I think I am trying to convince myself it has ended. The Australians have it all worked out that this woman was murdered by a man, possibly husband, and had locked herself in the room to escape him, that is why the latch keeps going up and down and the door opens and slams. I just don't know any more......

    Thanks for the update Omnasia!

oooh, I wonder if it was a husband who killed his lover in a jealous rage and then topped himself???? Do let us know if you find out.

I too class myself as a 'non' believer but I like to keep an open mind. I think there are definitely more to the 'reality' or our world than meets the eye. We are busy trying to find a proof measuring something non physical with our physical instruments because that is our understanding of science and proof, etc.

Anyway, assuming or giving the medium a benefit of the doubt - it does not sound as the spirits are not after you! More likely they are merely trying to find a way out to where ever they belong on the other side.

    Hope all will be well!

    :TYes, it's quite fascinating.
  • I definately DON'T recommend a seance.

I was really skeptical thought it was a massive con ....then .... I went to one in a old gaol for charity ...no one knew anything about me.. 2 professional mediums there .

We did a ouiji board .. The board asked me to lead and spelt out my grandfathers full and uncommon name that NO one there would know as I have never mentioned my grandparents to anyone there and certainly not mentioned his name or the unusual spelling of it. Asked if he had a message for me ... It said "oi whenya going to get some Jack Daniels down your neck woman" ..... My grandads phrase to me .. No one in the room would know that as he lived 85 miles away and died many years ago.

I went outside and promptly threw up ....and no I hadn't been on the Jack Daniels or any alcohol.

Makes me quite ill even just thinking about it now even though he was trying to help !

Hope the medium has managed to subdue the spirits in your home Omnasia and you are able to enjoy your new home.

  • I just wanted to let you know about a couple of our family experiences.

My mother and father lived with her grandmother for a while whilst waiting for a house. My older sister was newly born and in a crib at the bottom of the bed in their room. One night my mother was woken to find two men in world war 1 uniforms pointing and smiling at the baby, my mother woke my father and he saw them as well. The soldiers were smiling and then disappeared.

Next morning my mother spoke to her grandmother, and she smiled and said, 'oh, they have seen her (the baby), how lovely'. My mother was shocked apparently my mothers' grandfather and son died of TB during the war. They apparently often visited and talked to her, she was a very religious Irish Catholic lady. She swore she herself would haunt the house if it did not stay in the family, it didn't after her death and it has in deed had loads of families living in it since.

Another experience was my aunt on my mothers' side. She bought a very large Victorian house with a small room in the loft which led to a opening into the attic. My aunt had two twin girls, who after moving in started having conversations with an imaginary little girl, she was about 6 and dressed in old fashioned clothes (I forget her name, but she had one). My aunt wasn't to bothered but at a later date investigated the loft and found an old Victorian doll, apparently the little girl was locked in the attic regularly. Once the doll came to light, she never showed herself again.

Lastly, my father on the day of my grandfathers death, (his father) saw his dad end of his bed, telling him that he was OK. After his death, he often appeared to my dad and brought his father (my dad's grandfather with him).

I'm a humanist but have also experienced temp drops/feelings in my very old house but ignore it as it does not bother me to much.

I hope your house is now at peace.

We did a ouiji board ..

If it helps set your mind at rest, if what you say is true, that was just you spelling out messages to yourself. That's how Ouija boards work. It's just a psychological trick on yourself called the Ideomotor effect.

If people want to believe in paranormal explanations for things we actually understand, then that's fine by me, but when people start getting distressed because of it I feel obliged to offer the scientific explanation.

Sorry to hijack the thread slightly!

It's not as simple as that. My uncle was very frightened as a young man when he joined in with friends using a ouija board. He got a clear message spelling out that the relative he had spent the previous night with had died. The relative - who had not been ill - had died suddenly during the morning.

At whatever period you want to look back on, there have been things that humans have experienced but couldn't explain. That didn't mean they didn't happen.

As knowledge has increased, we've become able to explain more and more and I'm sure we'll find the mechanisms that allow these currently inexplicable things to happen. To be truly scientific, we have to be open to whatever those explanations are.
