Perhaps now is not the time to mention I just watched The Woman in Black?0

I so wish I hadn't clicked on this thread, my husband is working away tonight and I'm terrified of being on my own at night as it is.
I never thought about ghosts etc, until my son at the age of 3 asked me who is that boy with brown curly hair over there pointing to the corner of the kitchen (we had no tv in kitchen), of course no one was there and thankfully my son never mentioned it again.
I've always wanted a period home, but after reading this thread I won't be buying one.
I need a whisky or two to help me sleep.
Op, I hope your visitors are enjoying their stay;)

How old is your son now? Have things been OK since that incident? Just think of all the times your OH has been away and things have been fine. Sleep well.0

Merlot123 I hope you slept ok and weren't too scared. I will be alone about once a month or six weeks and I am dreading it. I admit I don't like being in the dark so I will keep some lights on. I know that is all in my head as I have always been like that but this house is a different feeling.
The stone we propped the door open with was still in front of the door, right up against it but the door had moved about a foot and a half. I honestly can't see a draught doing that but I have no other explanation.
I did have a weird experience yesterday. The builders were leaving and one popped his head round the door to say they were going. He asked me if my friends had gone and I said I had been on my own all day. He looked puzzled but then said it must have been the tv as they heard voices and laughing. I did not have the tv on !! Maybe it is the house recording things like someone suggested earlier, I just don't know. We don't have any neighbours close enough to hear their radio or tv......
Fallen 121, I hope you are right and that our house will learn to love us !
Strangely enough I wasn't scared by the Woman in Black.
Teeniepops thanks for sharing your experience. My mum used to say that too that it's not the dead who can hurt you, only the living. Makes me feel better that people have gone through the same and are ok.
The ensuite is mostly done now, just a few bits to be done to finish it off then I will go in there with lots of nice homely touches, I'm so hoping that will make a difference. I'm getting excited about our visitors coming from Australia so there is a lot to look forward to.0 -
I've been following this thread with interest as i've always been a bit susceptible to strange things happening, so much so it doesn't really phase me any more as I've learnt to accept it, and find it intriguing.
The house I live in is well over 140 years old, and the area has occupied since medieval times.
When the OH is away is when the most things happen, he is a total sceptic but has been here when the doors have opened and the lights have slowly gone up and down.
Many peculiar things have happened and one f The weirdest times is when a bloke came to service the alarm and he was really getting on my nerves and I wanted him to leave, the speakers slowly came on in the back room and started playing loud music then faded down again (the hi-fi) wasn't on, he looked totally freaked and I just stood there and said oh it's the ghost it happens all the time ( this type of thing doesn't) he went white and fled I was just pleased he had gone and it wasn't till after I realised how really weird it was.
There have been the odd strange noise things, but the only other weird witnessed noise thing that happened when the OHs brother phoned when he was away and there was a inexplicable encompassing noise ( definitely not the speakers this time) I was pleased he had heard it and asked he ring my OH to tell him - only as a witness so he might believe me about the things that happen when he is not there, but again I was thinking that I didn't want him to come over while I was on my own.
Generally some of the things are quite sweet, tinkling bell noises sometimes, almost feels as if it something that is protective of me rather than bad. I really like living here and don't want to move, I don't understand these things or claim to know what they are but I think it's dread of the unknown that fills us with fear and once you realise it is that which is making you fearful it's not so bad and you'll not be frightened.0 -

Hope you thanked your ghosts0 -
Now that the vicar has left, I hope you feel more comfortable, possibly more relaxed. I think you should call him back to get him to answer your question.
if you think none of what the vicar did help, why not try this, nothing ventured...
Help! An Earthbound Soul is After Me!
If you should encounter one of these unfortunate blokes, there's no need to run off screaming. You can ask, very firmly, that the spiritual beings who are in charge of leading souls into the spirit world please come by and bear this wretched individual away with them. Just pronounce something along the lines of:
"Dear God (or dear Universe, Divine Creator, Jesus Christ, Buddha ...) I ask you to please send along some divine beings who are in charge of leading earthbound souls and ghosts back to where they belong, to kindly take this individual, this earthbound spirit present here, and lead it back to the dimension which it has justly earned. Do not allow this being to escape or remain behind on earth and ensure that it is properly led into the world where it belongs. Thank you, thank you, thank you."
Remember to always thank divine celestial beings for any service which they grant us. It's good manners, after all, and everyone likes to have their favours acknowledged, and divine spiritual beings are no exception.
This same formula may be used to help the second type of earthbound souls move along, those who find themselves trapped on the earth plane against their will. They are usually lost and would gladly run along into the spirit world if they could, but they just can't find the door. Perhaps they suffered a traumatic death which has left them in too much shock to think clearly. Or sometimes they might be very young.
Whatever the case, the same formula mentioned above will help them complete their transition without any more distress.
Some general research on the internet may help (as I have just done). As you are planning to live where you are for some time. This might be a solution, who knows.
Thinking about it, I am sure this soul would love your help in moving on.
God Bless

reading though lots of good advise didnt see anything that would help your feelings, regardless on whether there is something or not ( I belive in paranormal but I do look at other reasons first ) Anytime I feel uneasy and i cant put my finger on it being anything obvious I tell myself its nothing its not going to hurt me and for extra measure I actually say out loud, look if there is anyone or thing there could you please go away ( im always polite lol ) my OH thinks im completely daft but it does give me a lil confidence boost at the same, and enables me to get on with my day.
good luck on getting to the source of the issues though
Will be very interesting what the house and grounds history reveal0 -
I can't speak for everyone else but I can't wait for the feedback from the Australians!0
