No, all the lanes have markings showing the destinations should you choose stay in a particular lane. The two inside lanes are marked M1 and the one (not two) outside lane indicates that the destination is the B600/A611. What there isn't are any signs or markings stating ahead only or right turn only. There is nothing to prevent a driver switching lanes if its is legal and safe to do so. Look at the google maps link I posted above and street view or satellite it, you'll see for yourself.

If you look further up wth the junction with the M1, you can see that this island is different and (although a bit out of date now) the lanes there do have directional arrows marked which would prohibit such action but then again there's nothing to prevent you going right round the roundabout and then filter into the left hand lanes.
right Neil so you're saying that somehow in my entirely inappropriate annoyance against self important "I own the road " drivers probably much like yourself I have somehow managed in my anger and ignorance to completely miss the fact over 5 years driving down it that the road clearly marked right not M1? ...My mistake, please forgive me, right is, in fact signposted straight on, when I thought right meant right this post should have been titled "right means straight on ..left? ", hence the complete lack of queues in the right hand lane next to the un-usually heavy left and middle lane! In my stupidity and ignorance about road signs pointing right I somehow observe that for some reason nearly everyone wants the M1 is waiting patiently in the left and middle lanes except a few souped up car drivers who then all seem to change their mind as if by magic at the very last minute and then roar haphazardly and aggressively like lunatics into the middle lane on the roundabout itself.......apparently it's the M1 they wanted all the time!! Then immediately after, amnesia sets in and their trip to work again becomes right at that roundabout, until about the same time the next morning late again for work due to their own bad timekeeping when again this divine revelation most likely from some German motoring company suddenly manifests itself to them and once again, they're M1 users???

it is signposted right, I've driven there half a decade, people pretend to go right and then change on a roundabout which is dangerous, irresponsible and stupid!

then people like you defend it because you're the same people who do it, you're a bad driver, you think you're entitled to being above other patient road users, then you defend your bad behaviour with a load of fallacies about the road in discussion,

drive down there yourself, actually turn turn right, before doing so, note the road markings. Then feel good you've actually not tried to beat the system for once. :)

Nothing to stop the drivers in the right lane gouing all the way round the roundabout...or are you "against" that also.

Also nothing to stop them turning left if it is safe to do so except of course vigilantes

As a BMW driver, I follow the rules of the road, which includes obeying the road markings.

Unless the road markings on the approach to the Nuthall island have changed recently and are different to those I linked earlier, care to show us where there is road markings showing right only or ahead only, or signage of that nature?

I've driven up their countless times, probably more so than you, and no I don't do it, mainly because I don't feel the need to but I couldn't care less about those that do and what I don't do is deliberately drive my car in a manner as to potentially cause an accident as you would have us do. Maybe if you concentrate on your own drving and counter your frustration of what others are doing the you'll have a more relaxed journey in future.

As one of these 'queue jumpers', I take great offence at your suggestion your job may be as important as mine.

Strider590 - are you the cyclist in that video? OK the driver should have checked her left hand mirrors, but she was clearly distracted by the fact that she was more or less being forced off the road by (to quote the OP here) a banker with a w who made assumptions he had more of a right to the road than anybody else - and as a slower moving vehicle the cyclist should have seen the situation developing in plenty of time to be able to move out of the way instead of carrying on regardless.

No and what she did was accelerate to block someone from merging, which is directly against the highway code and considered "racing" which carries a possible driving ban, criminal record and years behind bars.

This "my way code" sh*t needs to be stopped!

  • I agree entirely - hate the idiots that try and push in.

These days I don't grapple with them, after a few near misses I don't want any drama.

Already had 2 non-fault crashes, seeing a driver get taken to court for driving not in accordance with their license (lied about who was driving, I set them straight) was easily enough comeuppance for me.

The daft bint tried to get her husband to shout at me and tell me I was wrong, I corrected him, he went off on one - but then in a later call agreed not to pursue the claim. However, as far as I know the accident management company or, well, someone must have blabbed about the license issue - I had no idea. Not surprised they didn't want to claim now!

Wow, it's a race issue now is it ? I never knew that calling someone out for being an idiot on the road was considered racist! If this is the best they can come up with then there must be substance in what I say. By going the right way to work I am both wrong and bigoted? No, I'm right but not turning right! I don't care if you're a black alien with yellow spots, if you have this entilement thing going on and look down on others, then , said in the most racially neutral BBC voice possible, you must be a queue-jumping self important munt.

Granted it's not race, it's not quite politics either is it? its not so much right vs left it's left vs pretend left and centre verses pretend center, and normal driver vs entitled queue jumping mater trucker!

Oh and Neil, I drove to work today , it was lovely and clear, - clear enoguh for me to see the 8 foot plus high road signs indicating M1 is in the left and middle lanes only !
