Sorry, gotta pick you up on this... so its ok for you to see your female friends alone??? In that case, why isnt it ok for me to see my male FRIENDS alone without their wives ??

Lol! Thats the bit im having trouble with to be honest... this notion that blokes are led by the crotch of their pants... Its a pretty mean view to have of the opposite sex... theyre no more likely to be sex crazed loonys than women are...

My hubby is very friendly with a good friend of mine. The send regular texts, she lives on the mainland (we're in NI) and she's been over to stay with us for work and we're going to stay with her next month. I know her parents and I trust them. Perhaps because they're sooo not each other's 'type' and it's one of those friendships where they spend most of their time ripping the p!ss out of each other.

Some people can be friends with the opposite sex without ruining their friendship with sex.

Because there is no chance of my female friends wanting to shag me or me them.

I once had a girl friend who was bisexual. I had no problem with this until she showed an interest in me. Then it was time to say goodbye.

I dont think this is really about "cam you be freinds with the opposite sex when you re married" I tihnk many of us can and do appreicate that this can happen.

However, its very interesting to note that the vast majority of posters here in long term relationships or marriage- believe FLIRTING with someone other than your spouse is out of order. the only people really saying its OK to flirt outside of marriage is those who are flirting with married men!

At the end of the day, the OP is hurt, and her hubby should be her comforter, not the person generating upset.

Marriage vows usually tend to have "foresaking all others". We'd all be minded to remmeber that.

In that case, there should be no problem with having a male friend, unless he shows an interest in you.

I hope that doesn't come across as too blunt, it's just that you and I have very different views on this, you probably don't understand my point of view just as much as I don't understand yours

OT I know, but I read a while ago that, according to geneticists(sp), at least 1 in 10 children are sending a Fathers Day card to the wrong father. It was put down to the fact that women choose a good provider to marry (to provide for their children) but their instinct is to choose a strong fit male to father their children. A bit like packs and herds of animals - only the strongest male gets to pass their genes on for the sake of the species.
