I think the point that you are failing miserably to see is that YOU ARE LEGALLY IN THE WRONG!!

I don't think I have moaned, I think they are wrong with the speed and all I was asking was what are the likely penalties. A fine and points is one thing, a ban has an impact not only on me but on all my family.

I now have to weigh the pros and cons of several potential courses of action weighing up the upsides and downsides of each.

All I wanted was some blasted advice.

The impact that a ban with have, be it on you or your family is no-one's fault but your own!

All I wanted was some blasted advice. Which I beleive you have received! If *you* haven't moaned directy then I apologise but I stick by comments in general.
I always thought it was he who was without sin that casts the first stone but obviously we are now a nation of saints devoid of any sinners (apart from myself and a few other wayward souls).

FWIW this sounds like a bit of a *moan* to me!! What is it *they* say - "If you cant to the time dont do the crime"!!!

I would say maybe you should have thought of that before you did 96 mph, if you do get a ban you may try driving at legal speeds in future.

Exactly what I said - 29.5 mph in a 30 mph limit is appropriate in some cases and not in others,. People need to engage brain when driving
Which if you take my full post is exactly what it implied and not worthy of the retort it got from you especially when you clearly appear to support it. Incidentally another implication being that it is NEVER appropriate to travel at a speed in excess of the regulated speed and there is no point whinging about the penalty after the event if you don't consider it before the event, to get off with a fine and a few points or even a ban is lenient compared to the trauma of a collision and the outcome of that.

How can you justify financially (never mind legal/safety/environmental aspects) driving well in excess of the speed limit? Doesn't it cost a lot more in fuel if your foot is pressed to the floor? Hmmm

No but I have seen the aftermath after accidents caused by people like you that think they are expert drivers and that speeding is OK, maybe you should try clearing up after idiots on the roads that think they are all Jenson Button, just hope that one day it is not one of your family when someone knocks on your door at 2 or 3 in the morning, then you may realise why speed limits are enforced by the police.

I read your post as implying that anyone travelling under the speed limit made the road inherently safe. This is incorrect, as is stating that anyone travelling in excess of the speed limit is unsafe. There are too many variables to make a generalisation in either case.

Hmmmmm I have to assume you have no children? Me, I'd quite like my boys to grow up and have children, and them to have children etc etc without having to wear a gas mask/ suffer asthma or indeed have no planet to live on.
