To be honest i think 96mph is a bit steep personally. I would probably say Iwas inexcess of 90mph but hard to say. The other thing is if they caught me at anything close to that speed then then there was a bridge in the way (ie their line of site).
I have been looking at pepipoo and will probably follow some of their guidelines.
Thanks all i am slightly concerned in that I thought the cut of was around 94mph so if it was 96mph it could be pretty serious.0 -
dont the police have anything better to do !!!!!!, 96 on a motorway is nothing, most trafic these days usually sits at 80 on clear days.
Doff my cap to the brilliant driver  however, other "Drivers?" with the same inflated ego's and mistaken belief's in their own driving ability are also out there with the same kamakazi mentaility ? Any other laws you want the police to ignore ? rape, murder, burglary.0 -
If you have Sat Nav, get the Speed Camera updates, invest in a radar detector and or a Road Angel Type device. The motorway speed limits are outdated and need bringing into line, I regularly pass plod on the M1 doing 90++, and they havent come after me, Maybe to do with buying my car from a Traffic Cop whose patch was the M1.0

I'm sure graffiti artists, vandals, drunk and abusive teenagers, junkies would all say the same, afterall they're not really hurting anyone are they."One thing that is different, and has changed here, is the self-absorption, not just greed. Everybody is in a hurry now and there is a 'the rules don't apply to me' sort of thing." - Bill Bryson0 -

Death springs to mind
This post inspires me...You know the "post of the month" thing...maybe we should have nominations for "yawn of the month" too...Given, each month, to the most dull, predictable, unhelpful, PC nonsense posted hereabouts.Happychappy wrote: »Doff my cap to the brilliant driver  however, other "Drivers?" with the same inflated ego's and mistaken belief's in their own driving ability are also out there with the same kamakazi mentaility ? No idea what you said at the start of the thing, but I think "rape, murder, burglary" - are the "better things" the police should be doing...mustrum_ridcully wrote: »I'm sure graffiti artists, vandals, drunk and abusive teenagers, junkies would all say the same, afterall they're not really hurting anyone are they.
If someone's a graffiti artist and they're not hurting anyone...what's the problem?
If someone's drunk or a junky and not hurting anyone...what's the problem?
If someone's a vandal or an abusive teenager, by definition it seems they *probably* are hurting someone, but even so, if they're not...what's the problem?
The thing is...The OP, whether you like it or not, didn't *actually* hurt someone by driving at that speed (and really isn't likely to anyway)...people who've been about raping, murdering, vandalising, beating, stealing, etcetc...all have *actually* hurt someone...
Still, I might slow down after reading this thread. I never realised you could get into trouble for doing 96, I'd have thought the standard 3 points/£60...Learn something new every day

No-one has ever died at 96mph. Death occurs when the speed reaches zero.
thats great news - so the faster we go the less likely we are to die.
Just need to let all these people know that keep going on about somebody walking in front of the car with a flag.
Please get real - the speed limit came in over 40 years ago now & the cars in them days were on the edge at that sort of speed whereas cars to day are quite capable of doing 120mph or more - so what is wrong in doing 100mph on a clear motorway?0
